I used top quality pine 8' - 2x4s and cut down to 6', and applied 4 coats of an outdoor spar urethane to coat and seal the boards before assembly. After inserting all 5 boards and putting the bench into place, I used my own weather grade screws of varying lengths to anchor the boards in from the back and bottom of the plastic.On the sitting surface, I put one straight board underneath front-to-back connecting the 3 flat bench slats, then 2 diagonal boards underneath 1/3 distance away from the ends. (Hint - Use the extra 2' cut off from each 8' board for braces). Finally, to help keep the wide bench boards from ever sagging over time, I used a short 2x4 to anchor the bottom seat boards to the lower back board. The bench is now extremely solid, and should only require a touchup coat every few years.The best part about the bench is that the ends have a resting place for the arms, as cheaper bench kits do not. The plastic should last for years, although I certainly expect some fading in the color. Overall the bench looks great and makes a wonderful moderate use bench for sitting in a quiet place.

Super easy to put together. Boards slide right in.I bought a set 25 yrs ago from a feed store and just 5 yrs ago we tossed it out. It set out in the weather everyday. Our boards are 8’ long.

We purchased something like this ten years ago, the benches have held up well, even through winter. Where the 2 by 4 brackets from another brand have bent. Pay the higher price for a l9ng er lasting product, these type bench ends are worth it.

It wasn't as easy to assemble as I thought. Like it for our outdoor seating in the yard.

Works well. Plan to buy another. Made our bench 6 ft. Long.
