I'm blown away by this health revelation
Dr. Rasa, I am so excited to have had the opportunity to read your book. I’m blown away by your understanding of how the body’s “systems” (e.g., the thyroid and the gut) work - down to a cellular level. I’ve never known a doctor to go to that level of diagnosis! I realize how frequently the doctors I’ve gone to have been treating symptoms… not finding the root cause of the trouble. I wish medical schools taught them to search further. But, I remind myself that the name of the game (the “health business”) is to sell pills to enable us to live with our chronic diseases and make us dependent upon those pills for the rest of our lives - not to make us healthy again (no profits in THAT!).I don’t know if my thyroid is 100% healthy, but I do experience a number of symptoms you listed. I understand that doesn’t necessarily mean my thyroid isn’t working properly, but because its function (and my gut’s function) is critical to my health, I’d like to know that it IS healthy. As a survivor of advanced and aggressive cancer, I try to be as proactive as possible - I want to avoid illness. Having gone through chemo and radiation, I learned that on some levels, the “cure” is worse than the disease.I know several people who have been diagnosed with thyroid problems, and they’re taking pills for the rest of their lives. Now I know it may not be necessary! It isn’t correcting the problem. I want to run out and tell all my friends and family about the revelation I now have because of you. (When your book comes out in soft cover, I will be giving it as a gift to several people.) Thank you!I hope you’ll write a book containing some of your healthy food tips for us – for those who are sick and for those who want to fuel their bodies with GOOD nutrition to help stay as healthy as possible. I’m intrigued with your “bone soups” (I want to know more about them).Thank you for sharing your invaluable work with us. God bless you and keep you safe and keep you well so you can continue to educate us. It’s clearly God’s plan.

It starts in the gut
I have had Hashimoto for over 20 years. Heal Hashimoto was very informative. The author shared information I didn't know. At some points I felt saturated with information. Although the audience is for those of us who have the disease or who have the symptoms and are trying to figure it all out, there are spots that were a bit complicated. I'm sure other Doctors may understand the complexities of reading blood tests. I couldn't begin to use some of this information. Also there was recommendations for herbal supplements. This is good but if we were to buy all of the supplements recommended we'd spend a small fortune and wouldn't have a clue how they worked together or if they should be taken together. I love the butterfly cover. I love the picture however it includes nightshade foods that are recommended not to be eaten by people with Hashimoto. Lastly there are pockets of information without thorough explanation. I've recently developed a gut problem with this Hashimoto condition. It's wild. I went to to Gastroenteritis and neither of them connected the Hashimoto to the pain in my gut. I went to allergist, internist, and rhematologist. This book provided far more information explaining why I suffered from gut pain. With Dr. Rasa's help I'm now focused on healing the leaky gut. If you have gut problems I recommend this book

Overwhelming and full of rants
This is somewhat informative about thyroid function and tests to ask for, but compared to other books and sources of info about this issue, it includes tangents about insurance companies (which, believe me, I'm not a big fan of--but this isn't essential info for this book) and C-sections, things that aren't helpful for actually moving forward. This includes a lot of information about "what type of gut" you may have, but then it says obscure things such as, "for this type of gut, avoid hot foods. Marshmallow is indicated." I read this in one sitting, and left feeling (1) that if I didn't go to a chiropractor regularly to realign everything that I didn't even realize was misaligned I was doomed, (2) that there was pretty much nothing I could eat in the world, except some spices, and (3) that if I tried to follow all of the sometimes contradictory advice in this book, I'd have to quit my job and take different expensive tinctures at prescribed times throughout the day. Immediately after this, I read another book about a 4 week plan to actually use for lifestyle changes and diet. While it recommended many of the same changes and dietary restrictions as this book, it was optimistic and realistic. So this book really wasn't very helpful to someone who's already feeling overwhelmed.

Fast track to a gut check
Dr. Rasa has two gifts: one is for healing...the other is for hacking through the forest of misinformation and medical jargon to guide readers through simple, honest truths about health. This is an efficiently-written book that appeals to busy people who are willing to dive right in and take the reins regarding their own Hashimoto's. She connects the dots in ways that make complicated ideas about the thyroid and gut more, ahem, digestible. Also, Dr. Rasa's writing style is conversational, reassuring and personal. Her doctor's bag is stocked with expertise and compassion – it's like having a wellness specialist right there with you. "Heal Hashimoto's" is the literary version of good bedside manner. If that inner voice is telling you there's something in this book you need to read...trust your gut and get to it.

Caveat emptor
I really wanted this book to help me find a diet that helped the gastric issues I have with hypothyroidism but was constantly frustrated by the disorganised way the book was written. It says a lot about many things that the author does in her professional practice, but never develops the ideas into practical steps that could be taken by a reader. At times she provides lists but doesn't explain enough for these lists to be useful. It is a frustrating and disappointing read, a mishmash of various approaches in alternative therapy and even an analogy about space-time. Clearly this book had no editorial input and the author is not a writer. I wrote this review because I am sick, wanted help but got nothing. The only thing I felt after reading was anger.

A very good book for anyone with an autoimmune disease and even better living to stop getting these
The best thing about books that are written by doctors who have these diseases is that they live the life that is not fixed by 90% of the worlds GPs or medical systems . This book is good for checking on what you have done or should do to help yourselves or the Doctors that are trying to treat problems with old fashion fixes using bulk Meds which most of the time just make things worse . IF most of the people in the world ate better food there would be 50% less sickness and then there would be more Doctors and Hospitals to look after ever person that really needs them .
