Best shave soap ever!
I have been using safety razors and shave soaps for years. I have used many brands. Henry Cavendish is by far the best lather and has a great smell!

Great design
It turns out I’ve been knocking a puck of soap around a shaving bowl unnecessarily for years. Thanks to Amazon reviews, I learned that a puck of shaving soap belongs in a cup, not a bowl. Huge difference. The puck stays in place nicely. Other reviewers mention microwaving the puck in the cup for a few seconds. I didn’t need to do that - it is locked in. I can rinse the cup with water, turn it upside down, and the puck stays in place. The cup also looks very nice on my counter. The only thing I would like to see changed is the material. It’s ceramic like a coffee cup, and so far it has stood up to the beating of my brush with no chips yet, but I fear the cup may get chipped at some point.

Great Way to Lather
I had previously been lathering my shaving soap/cream directly on my face with a brush. This bowl changed the game for me. First, the size of the mug is large enough to lather enough for a 2-3 pass shave. It is convenient to store the brush bristles-down between passes, and this mug is the perfect size for that. Secondly, the handle on the size allows the user to get a firm grip on the side of the mug of lathering with the base of the mug on the table. I prefer to hold the bottom of the mug in my palm while I lather, but this is simply a personal preference. Finally, the construction and finish of the mug are of high quality. The mug is easy to rinse, dries as one would expect, and looks nice when stored. The only qualm I have with the product is the inside of the mug. Most shaving soap lather dishes are rounded at the bottom. This product has "corners," meaning that the walls of the mug make contact with the circular base at a sharp angle. Some lather gets trapped in these corners, and it takes a bit of finesse to get it all out when lathering/applying the cream.

Nice shaving mug
It's a nice looking shaving mug that does exactly what I need it to. I like the handle and it's deep enough that I can get a good lather going and not worry about spilling. It rinses easily and doesn't take up too much space on the counter. If you get a brush and razor stand, I recommend getting one with a little longer crosspiece. I like to put the mug under the brush after I rinse everything and my stand's crosspiece is a little too short so things sit at an angle. It all works, but I am thinking of finding a stand that fits with the mug a bit better.

Size Matters
I have been using a 3" soap puck. I broke my bowl, and ordered this one. I did not realize that soap pucks come in multiple sizes, and it appears that this one uses a 2" or 2 1/4" puck. My puck wouldn't fit, which was pretty disheartening. However, I found on the web that you can melt the puck using a very low setting on your microwave, thus allowing the puck to fill the space. Then let it dry. I have also since found that there are at least 4 or 5 different diameters of pucks. I suggest that the seller make sure to tell the buyer what size puck this is designed for. Otherwise, I love it. It's heavy, it has the handle I love, and the black color is stunning.

Works perfect, great shape to work a nice lather.
Very nice, great shape to whip up a nice lather. The "nub" handle makes it easy to hold when the soap makes everything a tad slick. The glaze and logo are high quality and it looks nice on the counter. It's a tad smaller inside than my soap puck, I used a cheese grater, press fit it, then put the shavings in with a touch of water and molded them in with my fingers. Took less than 5 minutes and worked great.
