Morris Tubular Heater 1ft, 2ft, 3ft, 4ft Tube Heater Green house Bathroom Conservatory (1FT-60w)

Bought this tube heater to use in an outdoor bird aviary, not to heat it up but take the chill off and it works a treat. It keeps the aviary at a steady 10 degrees Celsius (50F) even on the coldest of nights. The heater gets very hot to the touch! I put a mesh frame around mine to stop the birds getting burned although you can buy a ready made protective shield. These tube heaters are ideal for Geenhouses or sheds etc, not sure they’d heat up a room though. I’ve plugged mine into a timer although you can leave them turned on 24/7. They are very cost effective, not using too much energy. Caution! When you first use this heater smoke will appear from around the cable entry point, don’t panic! this is normal! All tube heaters do this, it’s just anti-rust grease burning off which is used during manufacturing, after around 5 minutes it stops. I would definitely recommend this tube heater.

Bought 2ft 120w, nice and neat but wasn't as hot as I expected, only used once (now in Heatwave) but hopefully will keep damp at bay.

I used this to make a warm space for a dog crate. It's just enough heat to take the edge off. It heats up quickly and has a good length power cord with a conventional 3 pin UK plug so easy to install. The cover is worth getting with it.

Great little tube

I agree with the many other reviews the tube heats up and just randomly cuts off even when put on a thermostat. Making it completely useless. Sent it back and they make so many excuses to give me less then half a refund. Took weeks back and forth with Amazon to get a refund. Got a different tube recommended by another reviewer and it’s so much better.

Works. Takes next to no power. Puts out heat but it doesn't really radiat.

There are literally dozens of tube heaters available here on Amazon and elsewhere. So, how to select which one to buy? I can't offer a simple answer, only highlight some features of this one which influenced me. One thing I wasn't specifically looking for but struck me when I saw it is the IP55 rating of this heater. I wanted to install mine in an outdoors, but sheltered, enclosure, keeping some other electronics equipment from getting too cold. I hadn't seen any other model even quote an IP rating. IP (ingress protection) is rated IPxy where the X number is dust/solids protection and the Y number is moisture/water protection. X and Y run from the lowest (1) to 6 for X and 9 for Y. So IP69 would be dust-tight and submergible. IP55 is pretty good for the location I had in mind. Positive mark in my view. I was also pleased to see it is (or claims to be) locally (UK) designed and manufactured. Not for nationalistic pride, just in favour of reducing products being shipped needlessly around the world. The heater came well-packaged, promptly and was ready to plug-and-play. One strange thing I couldn't resolve was to do with the mounting clamps. Although they hold the heater up I couldn't get them to screw together tightly enough to grip the heater. It was always able to slide horizontally back and forward until the larger diameter ends hit the clamps. (Sudden thought - maybe I was intended to fit the clamps round these larger ends, rather than the tube itself? If that is the case it's certainly not clear in the instruction leaflet. It also won't suit my installation location.) However the heater won't be subject to any sideways forces so this is a minor issue. Big question - would I buy it again? Well, it turns out that my estimate for the heating of the enclosure I have seems to have been a bit optimistic! The overnight temperatures have already dipped below what I would ideally like. I've no reason to assume that this heater isn't working properly. I can't measure whether it's consuming/producing 60W or not. Anyway, I think I'll get a larger one - the 120W - and use it instead. I'd be very happy to buy this make again.
