Metroid Dread: Special Edition - Nintendo Switch

Best Metroid game since the first prime.

This is specific to the special edition items and not a game review (I haven’t finished it yet).The Box - Really impressive. It is embossed and has several different textures and finishes that really makes it pop. You have to see it in person to really appreciate it. This looks great on a shelf. The cardboard piece that holds everything in place even has a few E.M.M.I.’s embossed on it. Nice touch!The Steel Book - Very nice. The minimal styling works well as there is no text on the case, just Samus front and center. My only complaint is it’s not as stout as I was expecting, it’s essentially a heavy gauge aluminum.The Art Cards - Amazing. These are my favorite part of the special edition. They all have an iridescent finish similar to the box. Each has an emblem on top representing the shape of Samus’ visor for that particular game. I can’t wait to get these framed and hung in my wall.The Art Book - Really cool. I like that the cover frames this book as Samus’s mission log. The art within is organized chronologically by each of Samus’ “missions” (ie games). FYI the Art is representative of the mainline games included in the art cards (no Metroid Prime art). The cover is solid and pages are a heavy weight. This will hold up well.This is really a great special edition for Metroid fans. It is definitely worth it for the MSRP of $90.Oh, and for what it’s worth the is game pretty good too.

As a Metroid fan I wouldn’t hold back on this one, buy it if you don’t have it!

Metroid dread is simply awesome! The extras that come with the special edition are worth it! The artwork book is filled with amazing illustrations of the past Metroid titles, right up to Dread, in order of their release. The added cards also feature artwork from previous Metroid titles as well. These extras are what collector's like myself look forward to from special version of a game.The game itself is incredibly well done. Gameplay is smooth, graphics are amazing and overall performance is excellent.However, my package came with some damge on the outer box and the inner cardboard holder for the steelbook and Metroid cards was also damaged. Luckily the game, steelbook and Metroid cards wasn't damaged. The artbook had a few minor crinkles on the edges. A bit disappointing.The packing condition aside, I'm extremely pleased with the Metroid Dread Special Edition! A must-have for Switch owners!

I got the special edition of Metroid Dread and it's really cool. It really got me feeling like a kid again for a moment. I don't buy collectors editions but I had to have this growing up with these games on nes and snes. Also has anyone seen the video review of the psycho throwing her Metroid game in the sink and turning the water on, saying I won't let this evil hurt anyone else or something in review. Hahahaa, look for it if you haven't seen it. These are the type of people that complain about the game being hard, okay, don't buy it and move on then to another game or like the other day I seen review complaints of the classic gameboy advance giving 1-2 stars for dim screen. Some people, man. It's a classic GBA. Should have got a sp. It's not the sellers fought you're a moron. Now I know some complaints are legit but a lot of em aren't. Figured I say this because I get this thought more than I can count when I see these reviews. Anyway "antonline" is who I got my special edition from and the box was in near mint condition but thats not their fought, it's a card board box, but I bet somebody would complain about it. It was in excellent condition no dents or anything. I saw some people were having problems with best buy by putting this edition in a damn, envelopes, too. Antonline is based out of the Atlanta area and I recommend them as a seller. Satisfied. Ya'll pray for some of these people in the reviews, haha. Although it's good entertainment sometimes, these are real NPCs.

amazing bundle with way more than expected 🎮🕹️💜This was made with love. You can tell just by the quality and presentation of the whole thing. The recycled material tray with the E.M.M.I in the background, the "felt" velvety material on the art cards... And last of all, the art book, is HARDCOVER.This was why I had actually bought 2 SE, one from USA (last minute deal) and one from Amazon JP. And the difference is massive;The US actually has a nicer presentation. Only true difference is that the JPN version includes both steelbook and regular plastic case. The steelbook are different too, as the USA has a brushed metal whereas JP has glossed metal. The art cards are also different to reflect the region. But the US have a shiny glossy effect whereas JP is more shiny and prettier art. Biggest difference, art books. USA is hardcover while JP is soft cover.All in all, I am VERY pleased with both purchases. Even the amiibos came from Japan (even tho since I got rehired by game Stop, I was able to get a double pack too) and came with special acrylic art slides. Thank you for that, Amazon 💜🕹️🎮Best bundle I ever got. As a metroid fan, this was well worth the wait and monies. 🙏💜🕹️🎮💵💰

First thing's first. This is NOT a review of Metroid Dread the video game. The game gets a twelve out of five stars as far as I'm concerned but this is about the special edition purchased via the product page that you're reading this on.At first I was very disappointed to see the "You have given this product new life" sticker on the back of the box. 1. Because that means it's a renewed item (it says it on the sticker) and 2. Putting a sticker on the beautiful artwork of a collector's edition is at a really REALLY not cool crime.Thankfully the sticker is one of those that is made to come off pretty easily and with no residue, unlike some of the cheaper stickers some use that will rip and leave massively sticky residue on the box that you then have to risk damaging the box to remove.So what I'm about to say MAY NOT BE THE CASE FOR YOU. But in my case, everything was still shrinkwrapped and looked pretty flawless. This doesn't mean that it hadn't been opened I guess maybe Amazon could have reshrinkwrapped it.So minus one star because it's a used item when the product page says new. And another star off because they put a sticker on the back of the box. This is a garbage move despite its being a good quality sticker. Put in a cardboard little printed thing that states "Thank you for giving this product new life" but don't put sticky shhhtuff on the box.This review may be updated. If I open this up (probably will at some point) and the contents are poor quality like they were obviously opened and filled with fingerprints or damaged somehow, I will be updating this review and it will get a lower score.At this point you really don't have a choice. They're sold out everywhere apparently. If they were not sold out I would be returning this and buying one for $89 retail from GameStop or somewhere else.The product page says that this is from the NINTENDO STORE and is fulfilled and shipped by Amazon. NOTHING states that it was a renewed or used item (usually it has renewed in parenthesis after the item name) so this is not cool on the part of Amazon. It is misleading sales page from the horse itself-- Amazon.com. You'd expect this nonsense from a 3rd party buyer but not from Amazon.But for now things seem ok. I have the special edition in SEEMINGLY UNOPENED (except for the cardboard box it's inside of) condition so.. We'll see.

I finally had a chance last week to snatch a new copy of the special edition at the normal price. I was not sure how much of it I would like, I saw a couple videos of people opening them, but when I finally had a copy of it I found it was far better than it appeared from what I saw previously.If you are a major Metroid fan and are unsure about getting one, I would say get it if the price is not too much hire than the standard price. I don't like the idea of supporting anyone who does this, but if you are a major fan, it is worth it.

I would give it 4.5 stars just because the box was damaged in a corner but other than that this is just pure perfection, I recommend this hugely, the artbook is amazing, the cards look cool, the steelbook gives you the feel Samus' visor glows, the general art of the box is amazing, pure art

Better than the reviews say, I’m a big believer in reading the reviews and got a feeling of dread (pun intended) saying about the delivery “damaged it”… I did have a mild heart attack when the game wasn’t inside the steal-book but it was inside the game case LOL… really happy with this purchase.. Thank you! 😜
