Perfect
This works exactly as advertised and is exactly what I needed. Came quick and was easy to set up. Works like a charm with my HDTV and old DVD

Works great!
I have a number of laser discs I couldn't watch. Some titles were unavailable on DVD or streaming and I didn't want to abandon them. Alas, our smart TV didn't have the necessary input options that would allow me to connect my Pioneer LD player so I thought I was out of luck. I happened to see this adapter on Amazon for a reasonable price and thought "I'll give that a try". When it arrived, it included the cables I'd need (who still has an S-video cable lying around?), and, more importantly, the power source. In just a few minutes I had connected the LD player to the converter, and then to the HDMI input on the TV. Then, the moment of truth: I dropped in a LD, turned on the TV, and hit "play". The familiar LD logo appeared on the screen and the content started playing. I was in business! A side

Works well enough, which is better than others
There seem to be two types of these converters: this "old school" one with a metal case and external power supply, and the new style with a small plastic case and "get your own" usb adapter. I had one of the first type for a few years, using it to convert an S-video output on an older DVD player to HDMI. It worked very well but died finally last year, going intermittent. I'd no complaints since I'd picked it up around 2010 or so from a friend's company who imported and badged them. Now after setting up a new TV without composite inputs I needed to get something so I could still connect our old VCR for the occasional legacy media viewing, and tried one of the new cheapo plastic converters requiring an extra USB power adapter. Nice audio, no video-- just blue screen. I think they're made for gamer kids and not older AV gear. So I returned it and got this one, and it works as well as my old one and resembles it quite closely. I think there is an original set of tooling and boards everyone used to make these at one time and this still has that. It does the job, audio is perfect and video as good as can be expected from VHS. My only complaint is that the power supply cord is like a foot long, so I had to fool around with extension cords. Few people will have an AC outlet that close to a secondary or tertiary source like an old VCR or DVD player, so it's pretty inconvenient but manageable

Build and video quality are great!
When u pull it out of the box youโll immediately feel the quality. Itโs got a nice weight to it and the casing is solid! Cables fit nicely, no wiggling when theyโre in. And the video quality is great. Canโt find anything negative to say about it. Itโs a bit pricier then others but man itโs feels like itโll last a lifetime. However if that changes I will update this review.

When playing a VHS tape it would not work if you Fast Forward without resetting Converter.
If you were just playing a tape it would work. If you fast forward or stop you had to reset the converter or you would get a picture with the top half of the screen with pink images. With my VCR connected to a TV it works fine. It is not the VCR. I returned the converter.

Easy to install and does the job well.
Bought this to hook my older DVD carousel into my modern TV. It allows me to merge the old video and sound formats into the HDMI cable my TV requires. The cables were easy to figure out and it only took a few minutes to run through the various settings to get the picture quality I like. Not sure how well it might work with a blue ray player, but it's great for watching my old DVD collection.

Upscaler with poor image quality
I bought this device to use with some of my older game consoles including a Nintendo (NES), Super Nintendo (SNES), and Nintendo Wii. On the plus side the device seems made well and durable with a metal enclosure. It also turned on and worked quick and easy with every system I connected to it. That's where the pros end though. Image quality is overall quite poor. I uploaded the images that I took and used for comparison. The images marked with an "S" in the upper-right hand corner are from this Sunnatch device. The ones marked with an "A" are using a cheap AV2HDMI upscaler that you can pickup for around $10-$15. The third image set marked with an "I" are plugged in directly to the composite (Yellow, Red and White) connections on my Insignia 4K TV that was purchased in 2021. Comparison works best if you download and zoom into them. Overall, plugging into the Insignia TV directly produces the best image quality, which is extremely disappointing. This device is supposed to upscale the image to help improve image quality. I'd like for it to at least produce as good image quality as I get when plugging into a TV via composite directly, that way I could at least use it with other TVs that don't have composite connections anymore. Furthermore, the image quality also seems in general worse than the AV2HDMI converter as well. Not only does that device cost just $10-$15 compared to the Sunnatch's $35, but it's image quality is overall comparable to the Sunnatch. The Sunnatch does appear slightly better in some cases than the AV2HDMi, but not always and the differences are much more marginal here than compared to direct plugging into the TV. So I'll be returning this device as it's simply not a well performing solution.

I've used this device for a VCR, a SNES, N64, and Wii so far and it looks great, as far as 224p/240p/480i can go at least. The ability to switch to 720p from 1080p also helped one of my older TVs recognize the signal, so that was good too. I also hooked it up to an Mclassic adapter and the signal was still clean. I've had this device plugged in for over a month straight now and haven't seen a problem. Great purchase.
