Nice headlamp, manual is inaccurate and unnecessarily hard to read.
The light seems nice and bright and I am accustomed to headlamps with a battery case mounted on back of the headband, so no issues there. The manual seems to be written for a different version of this product. Manual states the sequence of switch operations is: Full, 50%, Strobe, Off. On mine that sequence is actually : Full, Off, 50%, Off, Strobe, Off. I really only need one Off position and would prefer 4 switch operations to 6 for working through the full cycle of light modes. Manual states (last page) the lens can be rotated to adjust light intensity and focus, but that has no effect on my lamp. Sliding the lens in and out does affect lamp focus. Finally, manual says the lens can be tilted up (no, it cannot) or down (yes, it can).On my last headlamp (different brand), the point of failure was the wires leading into the lamp assembly. They fatigued and broke. Wires on this one look no more robust, so something to watch. As the wires do not attach directly to a swiveling part, this product's wires may last longer- I hoping.A last note- the font size in the manual is clearly aimed at younger people than me. I'd guess the print to be maybe 8-point at best. There's room for larger print, which I'd certainly appreciate.UPDATE: AH- But Not So Fast!! The switch seems to have another mode not described in the manual and I like it! If you turn on Full LED brightness, then turn it off and wait a few minutes, it once again comes on at at full brightness, no cycling through the other modes. Nice! However, if you select 50% brightness, turn off, wait a while and turn on again, it's once again at full brightness, so not remembering the selection you made last time you used it. That would have been nice, too!

WOW! I'VE SEEN THE LIGHT!!!
I GUESS YOU COULD SAY I'M A FLASHLIGHT JUNKY. I'M ALWAYS ON THE LOOKOUT FOR MY NEXT FLASHLIGHT. WELL I CAN DEFINITELY SAY I FOUND A WINNER!!! THIS FLASHLIGHT IS REALLY BRIGHT! I LOVE HOW IT COMES WITH THE ATTACHMENT TO MOUNT THE LIGHT ON A BIKE FOR NIGHT RIDES. I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR A LIGHT LIKE THIS WITH A MODERATE PRICE POINT. THIS IS IT. IT IS EVERY BIT AS BRIGHT AS ADVERTISED AND SOLID AS A ROCK. THE BATTERIES LAST A LONG TIME IN THIS AS WELL. I USE ENERGIZER RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES, AND THEY WORK EXCELLENT IN THIS UNIT. I HAVE NOTHING BAD TO SAY ABOUT THIS LIGHT. I WILL BE ORDERING MORE TO KEEP IN VARIOUS PLACES OF MY HOME FOR EMERGENCIES. I HAD BEEN BUYING 3-AAA CELL HEAD LAMPS FOR AROUND $20 AND THIS LIGHT WAY OUTSHINES THEM. THE AMOUNT OF LIGHT AND THE RUNTIME FAR EXCEEDS THE CHEAPER MODELS. I'VE SEEN VERY SIMILAR LIGHTS THAT COST 2 TO 3 TIMES THE COST OF THIS ONE. THIS LIGHT IS VERY BRIGHT AND LEAVING SOME JINGLE IN MY POCKET WORKS FOR ME. I LOVE HOW I CAN "ZOOM OUT" FOR A CONCENTRATED DISTANT VIEW, OR "ZOOM IN' FOR A CLOSE UP WIDE ANGLE VIEW. IF I COULD ASK FOR SOMTHING THAT WOULD MAKE THIS PACKAGE EVEN BETTER, I'D ASK THE MANUFACTURER TO INCLUDE A GUN MOUNT FOR SECURING THE LIGHT TO A RIFLE BARREL FOR NIGHT HUNTS, OR SECURITY. NOW THAT WOULD BE COOL!!!DO I RECOMMEND THIS LIGHT?IN A HEARTBEAT!!!BUY TWO AND GIVE ONE AS A GIFT. WHOEVER YOU GIVE THIS TO WILL, "LOVE YOU LONG TIME"

Heavy Duty Head Light
Reasonably priced and shipped fast, this is a sturdy headlamp with a hefty rubber clad battery pack on the aft side of the head band (4 AA batteries) and a sturdy, tilting focusable lamp up front. It's no light weight, but it's comfortable, well balanced and delivers a lot of light where you need it. Battery pack and lamp can be detached from the head band (not too easy, but doable) and can even be mounted on a strange looking accessory gizmo that can be clamped to a pipe of about 1" diameter or bicycle handle bars. It's not clear how useful the multi-use features are. and you never know what to do with weird accessory bits, so they generally get misplaced. The high and low light levels are good, but the strobe doesn't seem like such a good idea for something you wear just above eye level. The weak point on most head lamps is the head band, which ends up stretching out and losing elasticity long before the lamp and batteries are old. This band is particularly comfortable and sturdy, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed, because this head lamp seems like such a useful tool.

Great light but it is heavy in your pack
These things rock, the adjustable focus and brightness are great, but they are really overkill for hiking and camping. For the weight trade-off I will probably backpack in with a much smaller, lighter head lamp next time.I would have given this 5 stars just based on the light it puts out, but the kit is a little cumbersome. It seems like they have some design challenge here that they need to meet. The lens housing on the front seems like overkill to me, and could be made smaller and lighter without losing any of the advantages the marketing touts for this product. It feels like this needs another crank or two through the prototyping phase. I think if the housing were trimmed up there might be enough weight savings to load batteries on the front, which would lose a ton of weight form the whole apparatus. At the end of the day it is what it is, and four stars is a pretty deserving rating for a fairly capable product.

Real good for the price
I've been using this for about 4 months on a hardhat at work now. At first I was worried about the additional weight from the 4 battery battery pack but after the first day or two I didn't notice it anymore. I work doing inspections at power plants and can spend entire days in areas with no lights. If you switch between the high and low settings you can get about two 8 hour days before changing the batteries. When crawling into tight access doors the battery pack does get caught sometimes and you just have to duck lower. I had thought about putting the pack inside of the hard hat but the problem with that is the on off switch is on the battery pack instead of the light itself, so I'd say that and a little longer battery life are the two things that keep this from being 5 stars.
