Tough to mount, and no inhabitants
Kind of tough to mount because only one of the mounting holes was easily accessable when the front was swung open, the other hole you would need a really long screwdriver and try to get it screwed in with the front closed and through the bird hole instead.I bought this after a woodpecker had knocked several holes in my barn. Once through the siding, and a hole large enough for him to get in, he didn't appear to be interested in living in the huge interior of the barn, so he would try to put another hole in the barn somewhere else to see if it was more to his liking. I bought the birdhouse to see if I could get him to live in it without knocking any more holes in the barn. I had read that woodpeckers are territorial, so that if one does take up residence, they tend to drive other woodpeckers away so can be a good solution to the holes that they make. Woodpeckers also like to drum (peck) during mating season, so the house will not help with that. The woodpecker didn't seem interested in the house, and disappeared after a few days.

Birds are checking it out!
Purchased this for a pair of red-bellied woodpeckers that were checking out another nesting box, but the entrance hole was too small. Hopefully this Spring they will move into this one!

Excellent quality
Amazing quality worth the extra money!!! one small critique....the hole placed on the inside to mount the house is in an awkward spot to work with easily. Maybe a bit higher to avoid the door once hinged open

Decent nest; could be improved.
This box meets all needs and is easy to install; however, the exterior has been sanded smooth rather than leaving it rough so the woodpeckers can more easily cling to the side (this looks nice for us humans, but is far from optimal for woodpeckers).

Not for flickers.
We were purchasing it for a flicker and was told it would work. It is too short. And the hole is too big for the smaller, downy or red breasted nuthatches, birds to use.

Woodpecker house
We like the box very much. We bought it for woodpeckers but it has since become a home for other birds. Nonetheless we have it mounted in our backyard and are able to view it from our lanai.
