20' x 30' Residential or Commercial Seamless 60 mil EPDM Black Rubber Roofing Kit
B**T
Surfaces must be prepped, cleaned, primed - have a helper
The EPDM 60 mil was exactly as described. When putting laying down over 3/4" plywood here are a few pointers to follow:1. Sweep plywood clean2. Cut out sections of EPDM that you can work with 10' x 10' worked for me3. I used Lottes latex EPDM adhesive important to have 4" over lapping seams and clean ALL seams (both sides) with acetone. I used EternaBond 3" double stick tape for seaming the EPDM. The acetone flashes off the EPDM quickly and gives a clean (primed) EPDM for the latex adhesive to bond to. I primed the entire side of the EPDM that mattes with the plywood with acetone, its quick & easy. There are other cleaners other than acetone. Acetone is aggressive at a decent price.4. Use a 1/8" v notch trowel. Best to use 2 of the same exact trowels if working with a helper.5. Temp must be 60 degrees or above6. Be patient with the latex adhesive it takes abt 15+ mins before it gets tacky depending on type of weather When you test touch the adhesive with your finger and the adhesive begins to become tacky like glue between 2 fingers, Then you are ready to start rolling the EPDM down. The adhesive will then take another 48hrs to cure. (make sure you 1st lay down the EPDM for 30 mins before you start prepping for adhesive, because the EPDM needs to settle.)7. Use a metal roller immediately after laying down the EPDM with the adhesive. The roller is the same as a roller used to lay Linoleum. Work the air pockets from the center of your EPDM piece outward. . Once done do not go back and re-roll. The EPDM is heavy and will settle.8. About 15mins after i completed the job it started raining i had already covered the roof in time with a tarp. The temp was right around 60 degrees - not good. To increase the curing process time of the EPDM adhesive. I ran a heater in the garage to bring the temp up past 60 degrees. Due to the rain i had to keep the roof covered at least 48hrs for the latex adhesive to cure. If you get rain water mixed in with the EPDM adhesive while it is curing your in trouble. Kinda like getting rain on an outside wall that was just painted.
