What does it mean to be in range of the smarthub control box. What’s the distance away, is it a Bluetooth connection or just on the same wifi network?

The hub connects to your Wi-Fi and then it connects to the lock by Bluetooth. You don’t want the lock more than 20 or 25 feet away from the hub.

Can you mount this both directions? I need mine to be facing the other direction.

When you first initialize the lock it will automatically "hand" itself. Do a search for 'What is lock handing' In other words, yes.

you have to have a hub for each lock installed, you find this out only after you try to add the new device tothe MyQ App...
