I have changed these before and I know how. After doing all the proper procedures installing this cartridge it leaked. I removed it, then cleaned everything again applied the lub on the cartridge and reinstalled. It still leaked. Brought another from Ace Hardware without any problem and it is fine. No leaks. Do not buy this because it's cheap. Go ahead and buy an OEM cartridge and only do the job once. I would love to get a refund but I was mad and threw it in the garbage.

I bought this to replace a cartridge that was 20+ years old. It wasn’t providing much on the hot water side. I learned that this is a pretty common cartridge. I decided to try a non-OEM version since it was considerably cheaper. Plus, it came with a cartridge removal tool. The hardest part of the job was pulling the old cartridge. The instructions provided with the cartridge showed you have to turn the old cartridge about 45 degrees clockwise to remove it. The plastic removal tool had some give to it, and I was worried it wouldn’t hold to get the cartridge free. It was deforming near the end and (I think) on the verge of failure. if I had to do more than one of these jobs, I’d get a metal removal tool. Was happy to see that both instructions and grease were included in the kit. Pleased overall.

I ordered one of these for each of my showers (at separate times), as both were wearing out and this was the appropriate cartridge replacement. Immediately they both had issues: both had drip leaks and one of them vibrated so much it sounded like my wall was screaming at me for turning the water on. The company replaced them both with next-day shipping - I was really surprised at how quick the customer service was, I never even made a phone call, just went through Amazon's return/exchange/replace web page. One of the replacements works okay, with no leak and good temp control, but has some vibration noise with certain temperatures. The other one was so inconsistent with temperature control I had to return it. Turns out that this model is the cheaper model of this product, and any plumbing specific store sells the more quality version of this product (for approx $90). I learned this from a plumber friend after I had continued issues. I got one of the fancier ones for my master bath, and have had zero problems. Overall, I have had 4 of these cartridges, and 3 of them were so bad they were unusable. 1 is okay, but makes some vibration noise. 2 star product with 5star customer service. I give it 3 stars

My shower had this annoying constant drip. At first, I grabbed a cartridge from my local hardware store, thinking it’d be a quick fix. Nope, it actually made the leak worse! After digging around online, I found out it’s a pretty common issue with those cartridges. After replacing with this 1222 cartridge. The drip completely stopped, and the quality difference is super clear. Honestly, I’d highly recommend ordering two cartridges just in case the first one doesn’t solve your problem. If the first one works perfectly, you can always return the second or keep it as a backup.

Works as a temporary/cheaper fix compared to the MOEN replacement part, however the temperature control is very inconsistent. Very little middle ground between cold and hot and that temperature changes unexpectedly during use. I had no issues with the MOEN replacement part I got many years ago. My intention buying this was to try and save money, however I will not buy again and I would not reccomend it to others.

I installed it and it would not turn the water all the way off, I used the o rings and seals to rebuild my old cartridge so it worked.
