It's not about the quality or anything, how have other people reacted upon seeing you wear this?

I have not used it yet. Bought it for a Tubing trip that isn't till end of August but I don't care what people say as long as it works.

Does this product keep me from being beat up all the time?

The hat is so bizarre, that people think you are a superhero and gove you mad props for wearing it. Jealousy is a huge factor and people ask where you got it all the time. We know from experience from taking it to theme parks. Constantly stopped and asked where they could purchase one. Works well from protecting you from the sun, but also the characters on mortal combat. Great pruchase!

what is on the top that ventilates a mesh or is it this fabric all the way around, top to bottom?

It’s actually two umbrellas Connected... the little one on the top is upside down and can be pushed Into either a concave or convex shape. There’s A little bit of space in between the two. The smaller umbrella covers an opening on the top of the larger umbrella that creates the ventilation. No mesh. I hope that helps. It really works well for rain or sun.

Picture shows top canopy turned upward, inside out. I can't seem to make the one I bought do that, why? That would provide more ventalation.

Keeps hands free during rainy walks

Bought this as a joke for my mom for Christmas as she likes to walk with Nordic poles & struggles when it rains. She actually loved it and wore it frequently with her walking group in rainy Vancouver. She was devastated when she lost it at a coffee shop so I bought her another one.
