Lego The Hobbit Dol Guldur Battle 79014

(Book and movie not included) I’m a huge fan of anything to do with Tolkien’s middle-earth, and have been collecting Legos for five years. This set is great! The best part is likely the minifigs! Azog and the two Gundabad Orcs are great, I love Azog’s head and shoulder piece. However I would have preferred three Gundabad Orcs though, but that’s okay. Gandalf is definitely the best character, I love that he comes with his sword, Glamdring, along with his staff. Radagast is a good addition too. If I were to be picky though, I would rather the two wizards capes have been made of the more flexible material they use in more recent sets, but this was made in 2013, so it’s excusable. The Necromancer was a very necessary addition, and I like him too. When it comes to the Lego adaption of a section of the Dol Guldor fortress, the wall in the set is great. It can be connected to set 79011, Dol Goldor Attack to make it even longer, but looks great as is too! The turning wall for the Necromancer to hide behind is an awesome play feature, you turn the torch above to make it turn. The sword slicing trap function is also cool, but the passage it’s in is a tight fit for minifigs. The “iron” gate opens and adds a lot to the overall look of the set. There are also two little rooms in the tower for the Orcs to go in, there’s plenty of room on top too. You can put either the boulder with the cage (containing a skeleton) or the catapult on the top of the tower. The catapult, I might add, doesn’t work very well, but oh well. The cage is pretty neat, but I was a little disappointed Gandalf doesn’t fit in it very well (he is the one in it in the movie). The skull dropping function is cool, you turn a disguised lever and the skull gets dumped. The statue is neat, I like that it’s not connected to the wall. You can open its base down the middle and inside is the one ring (which doesn’t make sense if you’ve seen the movie, but once again, oh well). I like that all along the wall is a walkway, though a bit tight in places, for the minifigures to walk along. Overall a great set with just a few things that I would have liked to be different, but definitely a great Lego set.

Present for our 7 year old grandson who is reading corresponding book & loves legos. He enjoyed putting this set together, is happy about the few contraptions it includes and is loving making stop motion story lines with this set and others he received. Backdrop scenery painted by my husband for full effect! Hours of fun. The only reason for 4 Stars is my overall belief that Legos sets are generally overpriced.

Great set if you like LOTR or Castle themes. 3 very unique figures included make it even better, 6 total. 8 if you count the skeleton and statue. Lots of playability features. Bought with 79011 and am extremely pleased as with most all Lego products. Keeps kids enthralled and teaches building and instruction concepts.

Well, this a LEGO Hobbit set

Grandson is a LEGO fanatic and master builder. He put this together in no time and added it to our collection of Lord Of The Rings sets, where we have our "Good VS Evil" battles. Just a heck of a lot of fun!!! The set meets the excellence criteria of all of the LOTR sets we've accumulated.

As a fan, I like this because of the great minifigures but if you are a collector, you won't like the details of the citadel. What I don't like about it is the construction phase. It is not so enjoying because of the plain color does contrast a lot. The architecture is not so like the original one. The general shape is ok but it is most like the helms deep set. Citadel does not very resembles the original castel in the movie.The necromancer is very dissapointing. I was planning to combine the eye of Sauron in the Battle Wizard set, and probably the helmet of the "Mouth", but that body of this set does not really charming.Azog is now become a great looking guy. You will definitely like it. The problem is the previous Azog in the other lego set was poor. I don't know why we have two very different Azogs now. A design problem!Still the stickers are not charming. The brown blades (what ever they are) are not so effective I think. I really love the tower part and the inside decoration of it. Also the outside stairs are cool but I don't find any specific function of them except the nice looking. The traps are nice too.The cage is very good, Gandalf perfectly fit into it but not the skeleton. The statue is very cool too. The branch decoration and secret of it is so nice.For who cares for the minifigures, this is a must buy set, I remind that there is finally Radagast the Brown here. For who really cares for the sets itself and if it is your first set, buy Helms Deep or another thing.Thanks to Amazon for fast delivery! It arrived 10-15 days earlier.

This was a good deal- better than anywhere else I could find. It's a nice set with lots of possibilities.At this rate we may eventually have the entire map of The Hobbit and Lord of the rings..... actually that's kind of a cool idea...... okay my husband and kids may not be the only Lego fans in the house.

When i bought this package i didn't expect it to get to my house for a little bit, but it came in two days!!. And not only that but the set itself is really fun and it was a great price for all that you get, i recommend this to people of all ages.
