Inexpensive and It Works
Small soldering pencils like this are ideal for delicate small connections that can be damaged by overheating. This one worked for me in such an application. I used it for connecting tiny stranded wires to 4mm DC connecting plugs. For reasons unknown it has a two-prong polarized plug, which should not have been necessary. This soldering pencil comes up to working temperature promptly, cools quickly and is inexpensive.

Handle gets hot if left on for for than about 7-10
Normal usage for me is only a couple minutes at a time then I'm done. I left it plugged in for about 7-10 minutes straight and the handle got really hot, but not enough to cause damage. I could use it, but had to hold lightly. Other than that, works for me.

Cheap
Cheap. Plug falls out of outlet. Works if it stays plug in.

Perfect for DIY projects.
I like that the tip is secured by screws. I use this soldering iron to melt plastics that are to rigid to cut with scissors and the tip doesn't bend or come loose like other irons do. Great price as well.

Price is what you should pay
The quality is actually a little bit better for this kind of soldering iron for under $10.00 which is perfectly acceptable for a lot of routine uses. Mainly the price was what I'm willing to pay and not $30 to $40 that others are selling it for.

good quality for its price
This soldering iron works as I wanted it. The melted lead will stay remain at the tip making it more easier to solder conductors and electronic components.
