Nice toaster. It does the job, especially with standard size bread slices. If you have a wide loaf or extra thick slices, you might need a different toaster. It's been decades since I owned a toaster because when you need to toast bread for a crowd it's easier to put it in the oven. Now, this toaster does the trick and looks good in blue doing it.

This is the first Hamilton Beach item I have bought in over 20 years. Their line of appliances got a horrible name back in the '80's for poor quality. However, after reading all the reviews and doing my research this was the model of toaster that had all the bells and whistles I wanted and was the right price. Having used a toaster oven, then an air frier oven, my toast over the past several years has been rather dry since both types of toasters take up to 10 minutes to cook, drying the bread. I love eating toast cooked over an open flame, which crisps the outside, but leaves the inside warm and chewy. A toaster doesn't do it for me, so I frustration I went ahead and bought this toaster. Yes, the first slices of bread out are a little unevenly toasted, but I have noticed that when I use it for more than the original two slices, the next sets are perfect and it only takes about 2 minutes to cook, leaving the outside crispy and the inside soft, warm and chewy. I am delighted with it.

After disappointing toasting performance from 2 other brands- one side gets toasted, the other side of the bread or waffle, not so much. I scoured Amazon's offering- tons of toasters. All kinds of price ranges I read review-after-contradictory review. I looked at the pictures, watched video-after-video. I looked at toasters with lights, without lights, all in search of a basic reliable toaster that will toast both sides of the bread evenly. I have a suspicion all toasters are made in the same factory in China with the same parts-just a different outside. Bigger prices didn't seem to get more 4 and 5 stars. And the complaints all sounded the same regardless of price. Finally, i couldn't take it anymore and settled on this Hamilton Beach - it's inexpensive, simple - no bells, no whistles - and it toasts both sides, frozen waffles just right when you press the frozen button and set the shade. I gotta tell you, you can trust this choice for your toast, waffles, and bagels. I got lucky and didn't have to send this one back!

The toaster is a replacement for old one that was only a few years old . It seems to be ok for what we need it for nothing fancy . I noticed only one side of the bread seems to get brown . What I do like is it has a better dial for the settings. It also has good buttons for either just roasting , defrosting and to cancel ..

Mediocre toaster - toasts unevenly, better than nothing. Cheap price, you get what you pay for. Next time. I'll spend a little more money.

To begin, I have to say that this toaster is very basic, and I am glad I only paid $20 for it. For the price, one shouldn't have great expectations for a toaster - but I did think that it might be better than what it is. Don't get me wrong, if you are looking for a toaster that just toasts regular size bread (like the square size of wonder bread or something) then it would probably work just fine for you. I typically buy good quality bread like Dave's or Oroweat Multi Grain that are more rectangular in shape, and the slots are just a bit too short for the slices to fit - so I have to push the slices down after the lever is engaged. I wouldn't expect a toaster in this price range to have a sensing mechanism that would allow it to toast evenly, and this one doesn't. It seems stuck on the bagel setting, which one side inevitably comes out darker than the other. Depending on the bread that I buy I have to adjust the timer accordingly, which is expected. The feature works well and is consistent when keeping it at the same setting and using the same bread. It is useable, though I wish that I would have spent a bit more for a better-quality toaster. I am giving it four stars because it does toast and would probably suit someone who uses the more inexpensive "square shaped" bread or smaller slice bread. Just doesn't work well for the more rectangular types of bread.

Funciona a la perfección. No hemos mantenido en la marca, después de 15 años ha sido tiempo de sustituir nuestro tostador. Para mi gusto en el número 3 la rebanada regular de pan tiene el tostado ideal, es una ventaja que pueda descongelar, pues en casa solemos congelar el pan, además de que le caben rebanadas mas grandes. Comparé el precio con su venta en tienda física en supermercado en USA y resultó un dólar mas barato comprándolo por este medio.

It works well, but there was strong smell of plastic when first turned on. I assumed it might be that way as most appliances seem to rarely be tested or cleaned in advance. After about 10 minutes, the plastic smell went away. The toaster worked well, like a toaster been using for a week now.
