Kirschen 1001012 Firmer Chisel with Hornbeam Handle 12mm No. 1001, Multi-Colour

The chisel required a little flattening and honing, but nothing that was unexpected. It takes a very nice edge and holds it well. I've used it on a variety of hardwoods as well as occasional pine or fir. The chisel is quite light and easy to use for extended periods of time without fatigue. I've never been crazy about the finish on the handle, but given all the good things this chisel brings, I can live with it.

Like other Two Cherries chisels I've purchased, I have in hand a chisel made of high-quality steel, with an edge that stays sharp - knife sharp. The steel & the manufacture of this chisel bear witness to quality German engineering. Were I to make any quibble, it would be having to convert millimeters into fractions of an inch - umm, let's figure, 12 mm is real close to half an inch...

Good chisel but the steel is not hard enough for using a mallet. no matter what I did the edge rounded over to the back. Great for Pairing and good for the price point

I am a novice but I had no problem whatsoever using the chisel right out of the package. Sharp with mirror polish and absolutely no machine marks or defects of any kind.
