The butter is not oily or greasy, I use it on my body and my skin feels smooth. I would say it’s a good sealant for my strands but I need to try this product out for 6 months before I give a review concerning my scalp since I suffer with hair loss. The smell is a mixture of coffee and smoke and it doesn’t linger. Get a good amount of product for the cost and this should last me more than 6 months trial. I had to update the star ratings, I love the smell, burnt coffee caramel scent. I love the effects on the hair and body and my mom seeing results on her scalp, and I use it on my son's body. I use another genuine product but it's just 4 oz for almost the same price but if I am going to use it on my family I need a bigger container. This product to me seems genuine, it has the consistency color and natural earthy smell and its more affordable for 16oz. Avoid the Chinese brand and get yourself this.

This is a good product if you can tolerate the smell after the initial opening of the container. It smells like a mixture of strong cigarette smoke and strong black coffee. After that I found that the smell became less intense. I purchased it to help with some thin areas around the front edges of my hair line. Most of the reviews that I read prior to my purchase were good with the exception of them mentioning the not so pleasant smell. So I decided to give it a try, and I am so glad that I did because since the first time I applied it to my hair and scalp, I have noticed significant growth as well as thickness around the edges of my hair line. Although the price is a little costly,the product contrainer is a nice size for the price so I was pleased with that. The product straight from the container has a thick consistency but melts and absorbs quickly, so a little will go a long way. This product I am convinced will continue to improve my hair condition on my journey to obtain healthier hair from the results I've seen after only two applications. I found that it works better for me if I apply it as an overnight therapy prior to hair wash day. The smell takes time to get use to so if you can manage to get pass that like I did the I would definitely recommend this product for you.

I’ve been using this hair/scalp mask for a couple of months now and I really like it. It makes my hair feel much more smooth and moist and healthier after using! The only reason I didn’t give 5 starts is because of the smell…it doesn’t smell the best but the smell goes away after washing it once!

Three years in and it still earns its place in my routine. I don't alway wash the oil out. That is the part most people miss. A little goes a long way. Some days I use barely a fingertip and that is enough. Your scalp will tell you when it is too much. PHOTO BREAKDOWN Photo 1 shows the real texture thick grainy and paste like. This is what raw batana actually looks like. Photo 2 shows how it sits in the hair adds weight control and a natural sheen without looking overly greasy when used properly. Photo 3 shows the jar for scale a little goes a long way. THE TWO CORRECT WAYS TO USE IT As a leave in i only apply when im out of the shower and my hair is damp. The oil melts quickly from heat of your hand and on your scaple. Dont start by leaving it in at the beginning, test it first because it can be powerful. As a deep treatment apply more generously. Leave in for 30 to 40 minutes then wash it out. Better for finer or straighter hair that cannot handle buildup. Frequency is 2 to 3 times per week or once weekly as a treatment. Start small. Too much will weigh your hair down and cause buildup. WHAT TO EXPECT Thick dense slightly grainy texture that melts with body heat. If it is smooth like lotion it is not truly raw. If it arrives melted put it in the fridge and it will solidify again. Solid when cool liquid when warm. Strong natural scent that is earthy roasted and slightly nutty similar to coffee or sesame. Not a fragrance it smells like a real ingredient. If it is too strong I sometimes mix it with coconut oil. Results are not instant. After consistent use I noticed softer texture less dryness better moisture retention and reduced breakage. It builds over time. WHO IT IS FOR Dry thick or textured hair. People who want a heavy duty moisture sealant. Anyone looking for a truly raw product. If you want something lightweight or low effort this is not it. VALUE Paid $48.99 in 2023. One jar lasts a long time because you use very little. For what it is the price is fair. BOTTOM LINE Raw strong and effective. Use it sparingly at first and let your scalp get acclimated. We do not all have the same sensitivity so take your time see how you react and find your balance. Batana oil is powerful and great for you when used correctly. Study it learn it and you will find your rhythm with it. I will definitely buy it again.

I didn’t use it as directed. I wet my hair in the shower, placed the product on my ends, and kept it on for MAYBE 10min. Before washing. It smells like coffee and cigarette breath or like.. stale cigarette butts put out in old coffee. I shampooed 3 times afterwards and the smell wouldn’t go away.. my husband said it didn’t smell THAT bad and my MIL said the same but to me? It was just yucky smelling. HOWEVERRRRR I say all of that to say… I let my hair air dry and wrapped it in a bun to keep the stank away from my face and woke up this morning to the silkiest hair I’ve ever had. My hair is incredibly soft and looks healthy this morning?? I had full intentions on returning because the smell was that awful to me BUT with these results I’m thinking I am going to give it a few more tries doing it the way it is recommended and wrap it up in a plastic cap to keep the STANK contained and will see if I can handle it then. (I’m being harsh on the smell, probably more than it deserves, because I do no fragrances in my home.. so, I’ve become very sensitive to smells. Any genuine batana oil will make your hair look softer, shinier, and I believe this helped me fight split ends along with frequent trimming. I guess when hair is treated just like a garden (taking care of it from all aspects), your hair stops falling!
