Best of Johnny Rivers

Unique sound of Johnny Rivers
Bought this on a flyer and am very pleased with the recording. Always liked Rivers back in the day and he comes across with energy and strong voicing here. Album gives the impression it's a live recording and I generally like those as long as the crowd in not too intrusive and I was fine with the results here, and am not at all sure that all tracks were live performances. I've read reports that Rivers was a difficult performer to get along with, but if true, that doesn't diminish this or any recordings I've ever heard by him. I don't recall the bushy hair arrangement he's pictured with here, but no matter, this is Rivers performing songs he's most affiliated with.

Great CD
My wife and I love this CD. It has all the great songs except his "Ode to John Lee Hooker", which I have not found. Still, we thoroughly enjoy this CD. The other day I was playing this CD in my car, with the driver's window down, and it was fun when some young people came up just to listen to Maybelline and Muddy Water, and then wanted to know who the singer was.

I Guarantee that You'll NEVER Find A Better Johnny Rivers Anthology Than This One!
As a music buff I don't have enough space here to tell, item-by-item, how this collection is so superb. The music is as crisp and remastered as if it was brand new. How fortunate I am to have found this on Amazon. DON'T MISS THIS ONE! - KP Harwell

Great CD!
I finally broke down and bought this, after hearing one of his songs again. Figured I just needed to buy a cd so I could listen anytime. There's only 1 song on this that I didn't really know. The rest is just awesome. Love it!A great selection of songs!

Brought back some good memories
I used to have a couple of Johnny Rivers Albums on cassette in the late sixties and they were either stolen, lost or wore out. It wasn't until I was checking something else out when I came across this album and I just had to buy it. It was like I was taken back in time when I started listening to those songs again and they brought back some very good memories.
