Should be on every writer's desk
If you are a writer creating characters you need this book. It is one of a very few books (at least that I've been able to find) that teaches writers how to create dimensional and believable characters.Whether you are working on a short story, novel or even a screenplay, the information in this book will level-up your characters.Written by an expert, the information and advice, questions to ask yourself and your character will IMHO aid most writers. And though it covers psychology, the language used is down to earth and easy to understand.I would not be without this book, and it will become a go-to gift for my writer friends. In addition to being a fantastic book, it has the most gorgeous cover that is an absolute work of art.If you are a writer, order this book today, you won't regret it.

Short information pieces with exercises to explore the writer's character development
Quite a gentle introduction to character development.Dr Carty introduces an idea and then asks questions with exercises for the writer to think about and complete. I was expecting something a little different - a bit more meaty perhaps - but I learned some things and this is a helpful and interesting book that I'm happy to have in my library.Maybe Dr Carty could release it as an ebook to make it more accessible to readers?

Excellent resource
I found Stephanie's book immensely useful in helping to get to know my characters. The exercises encourage you to go far beyond the 'blue eyes, likes carrots' level of description, to create personalities that have depth and consistency. It took me a long time to work through the book but it was absolutely worth it.

A very accessible tool for writers
This book is accessible and logical. It will help you dig down to uncover the inner workings of your characters’ emotions and motivations, and create fictional people who feel believable and real. I will definitely be referring to it as I develop future character profiles.

Outstanding
It has transformed how I will develop my characters at the beginning of every new story from now on. A million thanks to Stephanie for her wonderful courses and for writing this book.

An Excellent Book
This is an absolutely essential book -- and not just for writers. The insights into how minds work are extraordinary, and Stephanie Carry has a wonderful way to explain this to readers untrained in psychology, and to teach them to apply the techniques to their own writing.
