Great info
Had all the information we needed for our trip.

It's ok, but not worth the money
I personally perfer travel books over searching the internet, however I didn't find this book very helpful for budget traveling over the basics I already knew. I also found it hard to navigate and very limited on info. I personally felt I got more searching online for the areas I was interested in travelling to.

excellent, non-nonsense practical guide
Excellent no-nonsense guide on how not to raid your bank account while traveling all over Japan. The terse format lends istelf to scanning just 3-5 pages before heading for each destination, if you do day trips from a home base (Kyoto is most recommended for the latter, lest your're crazy about and want to experience in-depth the youth culture in Tokyo), so you don't have to carry the book with you at all times. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, lest your pockets are truly deep.

Great Japan travel guide
We just returned from a trip to Tokyo and Kyoto, and this was the most valuable travel guide by far. We had all the big brand name ones and this one was better. There are lots of ideas on places to visit, and practical visiting tips. The maps were invaluable, even though we had Google maps and an local SIM card for data for the phone. Highly recommended. Note to author: please add an index in the next version.
