Hoover Upright Vacuum Cleaner 300, with Pet Tool, HEPA filter, Blue & Grey [HU300PT]

This is the second one I have bought. The original is still going strong after many years, but I had a voucher to use so I bought this newer model. I have given my original one to my son. It’s light, efficient, very manoeuverable and the foot is slim making it accessible for reaching under furniture.The brush attachment is excellent for upholstery. Suitable for both carpet and hard surfaces. I would recommend for these qualities, durability and value for money.

The Hoover HU300 is a lightweight, easy‑to‑handle upright vacuum that performs well across both carpets and hard floors. Despite being compact, it feels stable in use and doesn’t drag or tip when changing direction. Filtration is a strong point. The washable HEPA H13 filter captures fine dust effectively, making it a solid choice for homes where allergies or pets are a concern. Noise levels are reasonable for an 850W corded vacuum, and the onboard accessories — including the crevice tool and brush — are genuinely useful for stairs, edges, and above‑floor cleaning. In day‑to‑day use, the HU300 is practical and straightforward. The dust bin is easy to empty, the cord length is adequate for most rooms, and the overall weight makes it comfortable to carry between floors. While the cleaning head isn’t as wide as some premium models, the trade‑off is better control and easier steering in tighter spaces. Overall, the Hoover HU300 offers reliable suction, strong filtration, and excellent manoeuvrability in a lightweight package. It’s a good fit for households wanting a simple, effective upright vacuum without unnecessary bulk or complexity.

***UPDATE. So, 16 months on and almost daily use it’s still a good cleaner. Only criticism is the suction on hard floor, especially into corners and edges, could be stronger. Beats the carpets well though, and hasn’t fallen apart. Note that others say it’s heavy, but to be fair, nothing with a motor is ever going to be very light. **A good little vacuum cleaner. Not as robust as others I’ve had, but you get what you pay for. It’s never going to compare to other vacuum cleaners that are three or four times the price. Two criticisms. Had no idea where a loose thin rubber bar was meant to go. Secondly, the fluffy trim on the bottom of the head fell off after 5 uses. I found it sucked up in the dust container! In the end I threw it away. Other than that it works well so far.

I’ve liked the hoover brand for many years as it’s always been reliable and I wasn’t disappointed with this vacuum cleaner. It is very modern and sleek looking and super lightweight which is always a bonus especially for hoovering stairs. It’s very quiet compared to some of my other vacuums which is a great. It feels very good quality and is easy to manoeuvre with the steerable base. The suction is very powerful so ideal if you have pets. It has a super long power cord so perfect for larger rooms and stairs. My only criticism would be that you have to unclip the handle to attach to the hose however it’s not difficult nor does it take long to do. Overall I am extremely impressed with this vacuum cleaner and would highly recommend!

I wanted a lighter vacuum cleaner. This wasn't as lightweight as I thought it would be but it's ok. It's easy to use. I find the cable long enough. I'm used to a cylinder vacuum so find using the nozzle accessories more of a faff. It is really easy to empty the bin and there aren't any bags to buy. For the price it's an excellent vacuum and I'm very pleased with it. 4 stars because the accessories are a bit awkward to use. Update - after 18 months disappointed that the switch operating the brush bar no longer works. It is not due to the fan belt which is still fine. Vacuum still works but brush only turns as you push the hoover.
