Very high quality, in this case you get what you pay for.
So far I am very impressed with the quality and ease of use of these shears. I have never been disappointed in the quality of products made in Japan and seeing that these shears were made in Japan I decided to take a chance. These shears are not cheap, however in my first use of them they performed flawlessly. These shears blades are very sharp, very well machined and fit and finish of the blade mechanism is truly excellent with a beefy pivot bolt, nothing is cheaply built. I was able to cut through 9/16th inch, just over half and inch or about 14.25 mm diameter bush stems very easily. And for a trimming like that it was just about as comfortable and easy to use these manual shears as my electric Milwaukee ones. See the picture I am going to upload as well to see what you can cut with one hand. The overall ergonomics are very good, full steel handles with a nicely engaging locking mechanism. There are no comfort grips but I wear gloves while gardening and the rounded face of the handles caused no hot spots or discomfort. If you wanted you could likely use plastidip to add a rubber handle but it’s really not needed, and you know you have steel handles all the way down, nothing hidden by plastic. The leather sheathe seems to be of good quality. It is only formed for right hand carry but I am a lefty and you can easily just put the shears in “backwards” and the sheathe being leather has no issues retaining the shears and they don’t get stuck. I would advise these shears will probably rust a little easier than cheaper shears as they are probably a higher carbon steel, but I have no doubt that when dull you could bring these to a sharpening service for knives and they could easily get them sharp again, they are properly made.

Best pair of pruning shears ever
Bought as a gift for my husband and will have to buy another pair as he's not too keen on sharing them. They are sharp and feel great it your hand. We have pruned just about every hedge in our yard multiple times and they are still cutting like butter. Will definitely buy again.

Sharp, clean, ergonomic.
Outstanding and revered by my partner. Be careful, you could take your finger off with these if not mindful. Pleasant in the hand and effective.

Great/sharp
Make sure to wipe them off after use, they rust fairly quickly as expected but sharp and great!

Updated review and things are great!
UPDATE: After writing the review below and using these shears more, I found a really easy fix to my problem. The shear clasp can actually be folded in completely and will not make it snap closed. One other handy thing is, you can leave it open and reinsert the shears into the holster making for fast grabbing. OLD REVIEW: I really like these shears. They are simple and solidly made. There is one major flaw. When you cut a branch sometimes there is enough energy in the cut it snaps the latch closed on the handle. This is very annoying if you are trying to prune quickly. I find myself reopening the clasp after every 5th or so cut. The clasp is spring loaded so it does not allow it to be over-ridden to keep open. This is a absolutely a design flaw.

The best.
Just replaced it. Lost the other pairs, which I had for many years. These sheers are way better than the other ones, and are actually hanging in my door jam going to the garden. I couldn’t do without it.

I feel misled by the marketing and claims about Japanese quality.
These pruners bent very quickly and stopped working properly. About two weeks. The metal feels far too soft. They also rusted very easily. When I cleaned off the rust, the “Made in Japan” writing disappeared almost immediately, which made me seriously question whether they are actually made in Japan at all. I feel misled by the marketing and claims about Japanese quality.

On first glance. Outstanding piece. Super sharp. Already oiled up. Craftsmanship outstanding. Hope it performs the way I expect it too.
