Pomade for Men - 5 oz Tub Classic Styling Product with Strong Firm Hold for Side Part, Pompadour & Slick Back Looks – High Shine & Easy to Wash Out – Water Based

I had used American Crew Fiber for a number of years. I was looking for something else that has better ingredients. I have not used a pomade in a long time, but decided to give it a shot. This pomade does not have as much of a hold as the American Crew Fiber, but this works for my needs (my hair is kept relatively short, and is thick, course, and wavy). It has a nice smell and washes out very easily. Though I do know Rocky Mountain has a fiber product as well, I decided against it since you get half as much for the money and there was a lot of reviews that complained about its scent. I like that this has better ingredients. And it’s also good supporting a small business that’s located north of the border, our awesome Canadian neighbors.

For a point of reference I have thick straight hair that is difficult to style. I style my hair in a side part with a small pomp. I have tried many products over the years in search of a product that would hold my hair in place without having to restyle throughout the day. I have tried different brands, some more expensive than others. For this review I will compare Rocky Mountain pomade to Suavecito Firme. I feel this pomade is a direct competitor to that pomade. For starters I want to point out that prior to using Rocky Mountain Pomade, Suavecito Firme was one of the pomades I used regularly. I was quite satisfied with Suavecito Firme until I started to notice that it was damaging my hair. This product was drying my hair too much, which resulted in loss of volume in my hair. A quick glance at the Suavecito ingredients and one can see exactly how harmful this stuff is for hair. Enter Rocky Mountain Pomade. Ingredient wise, this stuff is much better for your hair. Hold In comparison to Suavecito Firme, the Rocky Mountain pomade is not as strong. In comparison, Suavecito Firme would be a 10/10, whereas Rocky Mountain would be an 8/10. This does not mean that Suavecito is better in the hold category. For the hairstyle and thick hair that I have, the solid 8/10 hold that Rocky Mountain provides is more than enough. The other advantage this pomade has is the time it takes to "set". Both pomades harden after a while since both of them are water based. Some users will not like this. Personally I want a product that will harden up so I don't have to worry about my hair throughout the day. That being said, Suavecito Firme begins to harden at a quicker rate than Rocky Mountain. Rocky Mountain allows you more time to style your hair and get the desired look without having to use water to reactivate the pomade. Another plus for Rocky Mountain is when it hardens up, it is not as hard and dry like Suavecito Firme. Application This one I have to give to Suavecito Firme. Suavecito Firme is a thicker pomade than the Rocky Mountain pomade, yet Suavecito Firme breaks down easier when you are rubbing it in your hands. This means that applying it to your hair will be easier and will allow you to coat your hair with the product with greater ease. I have been using Rocky Mountain Pomade for three weeks now and I have noticed that if you do not heat up the pomade enough when rubbing it in your hands, it can clump up when applied to the hair. Rocky Mountain is easy to apply, but not as easy as Suavecito Washability This one goes to Rocky Mountain. Both Pomades wash out easy, but Rocky Mountain is almost instant when the water hits your hair. Scent Suavecito Firme has a very strong scent. It smells like a cheap cologne. I personally like the scent, but you do get whiffs of the scent throughout the day. Rocky Mountain is marketed as not having a scent. It does have a scent, but its very light. It smells like chemicals. I do not mind the scent, but I would personally like them to add an actual light fragrance to it. I highly recommend this pomade. If you like Suavecito Firme, this would definitely be an upgrade. Rocky Mountain has better ingredients and you get more product for less money.

I have an in home barber shop and years of experience, so I know my stuff. I have very difficult hair, and other highly praised products (Reuzel, Layrite, Flagship, Grim Grease, Uppercut, etc) all fail quite miserably to control my mane. Starting with the easy stuff... -The scent is very nice, almost a sweet cologne. -The ease of cleaning is what you expect from an orthodox water pomade; you can just rinse this pomade out with water. Onto the meat... The hold is great. As I said, I have incredibly thick curly hair, and anything less than insane holding power will not work at all. Literally every unorthodox water base I've used has failed entirely to hold my hair, so orthodox water base is my only shot. This stuff holds it great. Seriously, it's awesome. Unfortunately, I do have a few gripes. This pomade is pretty thick, even by OWB standards. It isn't the easiest to apply, but it's still better than any UWB or oil base by multiple orders of magnitude. The finish does tend to streak and speckle a bit. This really turned me off in the beginning, but it's really just a learning curve. Work with it a bit and see what works for you, and you can really cut down on that and get a pretty solid mid shine finish. The last issue I have is with heat intolerance. This pomade will soften up and lose its hold if exposed to a lot of heat and sun, and very quickly too. This tends to only be an issue for either very very hot days upward of 80°F or very prolonged exposure to sun. It does firm back up when it cools off, however. In conclusion, Rocky Mountain Pomade is not the easiest to work with, but is absolutely a top shelf product that deserves recognition. It takes some experience, but is well worth the money. It's blown some of the highest rated pomades out of the water in all aspects.

To preface this review, I have straight, thick Asian hair (medium-long combover) and I work in the hospital as a nurse so I need something that'll last the running around and helping patients move. Best rated pomades I've tried in that order: Imperial's Classic Pomade, THIS Rocky Mountain Barber Company, then Suavecito's Firme Hold. FINAL AVG. SCORE: 9.4/10 Summary: Strong hold, semi-matte finish. VERY light scent. Easily workable into hair. Washes out easily. Breakdown: Hold: 10/10. As above, this thing keeps my thick, straight Asian hair in a flawless combover during a 12 hr shift as a RN. Smell: 8/10. Has a VERY light scent, which is a good and bad thing. Good if you don't want something overpowering like Suavecito, but bad if you want a great smelling product. Workability: 10/10. Consistency is just like Imperial's pomade (maybe even thicker). Applies to hair pretty evenly so you'll be able to style your hair as your please and lets gravity do its thing, making your hair flow nicely, but has GREAT hold. Doesn't dry too quickly (but not too slow) so you can take your time and style how you want it without rushing. Sheen: 9/10 (for my personal taste). Dries on semi-matte, as advertised. I like ultra matte products like Hanz de Fuko's claymation (which is my favorite product when I have short-medium hair). Washability: 10/10. Washes right out with water alone, even before applying shampoo. Probably the easiest to wash out out of all the pomades I've tried! Restyling: Have not tried to restyle. Will update ASAP.

I have been a regular user of pomade to style my hair for roughly 3 years now and have consistently encountered two problems when purchasing pomade: 1.) Price 2.) Inconsistent Hold So, when it was time to start the pomade hunt for a new brand (once again) after going through my latest overpriced and small can (2oz) of pomade I came across the Rocky Mountain Barber Company brand. After reading the reviews, users seemed pleased enough with the result, however, what caught my eye is that the can is 5oz in size and priced comparably to other brands! For those that don't understand why this is significant, the average pomade can is 2oz; so, for the same price as a 2oz can, the Rocky Mountain Barber Company was offering a can that was 2.5x the size of the competition! The value alone made it worth trying. I have been using the product for about a week now and I have been extremely pleased. The hold seems to have that mythical middle ground between what other brands labeled "Extra Firm" and "Regular" that I was never able to find with other brands and has allowed me to shape and style my fair without my hair turning in to the texture of cement or a limp noodle. The pomade provides a little amount of shine (which I like) that does show you have used some product, without an excessive shine that I find to be overkill. I can only speak for myself, but I have not noticed any flaking. For the first time in a long time, I am 100% satisfied with a pomade purchase and, barring something unforeseen, have found a pomade brand that is worth my loyalty to as a customer. If anyone reading this is either looking for a new pomade brand to try or just using it for the first time, you cannot go wrong with this value.

This product has a lot going for it that I think more people should take notice of. First: This pomade is very good. It works great with my hair. On the tin it says that it is "firm hold". Rocky Mountain has other products like clay and paste but they all say "Firm Hold". I would say that the pom has a slightly stronger hold than other major brands that I've used, so you will use less of it. But the hold is excellent. Second, You get more for your money. Rocky Mountain has a great price point, but on top of that you get 5oz in the tin. Most major brands are 4oz or less. Rocky gives you a little more, and I'm glad. Third, The logo and container are really nice. First the container is a metal tin, instead of a plastic jar. Also I like the logo and presentation. This company is based in Canada, which is unique because a lot of the major brands are based in California(I've tried one from New York, Australia, and Holland). One criticism: The pomade has no scent. Other brands will have a citrus, or sandalwood, or something like that. I did see on Rocky Mountain Barber's website that they have a cedar spice scented conditioner. I hope they will add some scents to their other products too. Try this product

This was an adequate pomade, but not one I'll go back to. I dislike giving 3 stars because pomades are so subjective from user to user. However, this product ultimately did not work for me, so I'll add my two cents to the stack of reviews. A little background: Fair auburn hair, usually in a side-part/fade or undercut. Pretty basic haircut overall. I've used oil-based and water-based pomades including Suavecito Firme, Sauvecito Premium blend (both matte and regular), Imperial (classic and matte), Layrite original, and Tip-Top regular. I'm not a huge fashion guy, but I know what works for my hair. So here we go: Pros: - Absolutely great scent. Like a mild cologne, it persists throughout the day, just enough to where you smell it occasionally. I really wish I could take this scent and put it on other pomades. - Quantity vs. Price is on point. Very good value. - Comes out easily, seems to spread well int hand when warmed. Not too sticky - Does indeed wash out extremely easily. - Limited ingredient list. Simple seems better on paper. Cons: - Inconsistent hold. I really don't understand why some days it's great and others it's bad. The amount you put on needs to be perfect it seems. This isn't forgiving. - The unforgiving nature might be because of the hold. I find the hold to definitely be firm when dried. So you better style it where you want it and leave it be. - Doesn't seem pliable enough to work through the day. - It seems to separate my hair into odd strands that I haven't encountered in other pomades. - Re-wetting and combing seems to work with other pomades, but I don't find that this is the same for this one. It seems to bunch up and becomes difficult to work. For me, this pomade was just a bit too inconsistent and too firm. It has a fantastic scent and the value is great. However, I'll go back to some other brands for now. For me, Tip-Top is very similar but with a better, more forgiving hold that allows me to work it throughout the day. I do hope Rocky Mountain introduces some new varieties, because I'd definitely be back to try something else.

This is the best pomade I've used! I wish I discovered this brand first, before buying other products that were particularly underwhelming. They're beard balms are also fantastic! The product - it's a gel-like pomade, easily workable, easily wash out. Pro tip - if it's going to rain, bring your umbrella, wear a hat or coat with a hood! I was caught in a heavy downpour and it felt like my hair was melting The scent - the scent is a light/barely citrus - almost soapy clean smell. Not overpowering and doesn't linger I couldn't even figure out a way to rate the scent, 1 star because there isn't a scent or 5 stars because there isn't a scent Overall performance - nice clean finish - high shine, when dries, there's still a nice sheen - if you want a more polished/glossy look, just add a little bit of water - either, run water over your hands and lightly dry them and run them through your hair. I usually ran water over my comb - shook it out and ran it through my hair, freshened up the pomade a bit and I was good to go. If you''re looking for that wet/polished/glossy look you'd probably want an oil based pomade - but those are rough on your hair I would definitely buy this again, but have to wait until all 5 ounces are gone haha

I'm a lazy but picky woman with short, thick, somewhat wavy hair who likes a swept-back mini-pompadour look. I have gone from hair creams to hair pastes to hair clays, all of which look freaking fantastic for ten minutes before falling flat and making me look like Cogsworth. The only real solution to achieve the look I want is a round brush, a hair drier, some hair spray, and not moving much over the course of the day but, as mentioned, I am lazy and refuse to do anything beyond running some product through my hair with my fingers and walking out the door. I also ride a bike to work, meaning that my hair gets sweaty and squashed under a helmet for 50 minutes, so I've also added "I must be able to rejuvenate my hair with no more than my hands and a bit of water once I get to work" clause to my list of impossible demands. When a friend recommended gel pomade to me, I went for it but was generally displeased with the ones I tried. The hold was good (finally), but most ended up looking way too greasy. This Rocky Mountain one was different. The hold is strong but not inflexibly gel-like, and, although it initially looks a little "wet" when you first put it in, that disappears after a few minutes as it dries. It allows hair to have quite a lot of bounce despite the strong hold. I've seen some reviewers annoyed by the beeswax in this pomade but I think that's what keeps this product from giving you either wet, heavy, greasy-looking hair or dissipating as soon as it encounters dampness. I've even had a bit of hold left with it after going swimming (with a swim cap, so my hair just got damp), which is pretty impressive. That said, it's not so beeswaxy that it turns into meringue and becomes impossible to wash out. I find this pomade washes out very easily with shampoo. There's also a lot of it in the tin, which is nice. Many pomade companies put two or three fingerfuls of the stuff in a lip-balm sized container and charge you $30 for the privilege. You get a lot of bang for your buck with the Rocky Mountain pomade, though. The only drawback is the smell. I can't truly fault them since no company will ever make everyone happy when it comes to scent, but this stuff makes me smell like a pickup artist in a fedora ten years ago. It smells exactly like those terrible, caustic Axe and Lynx men's body sprays that are made for teen boys but used by adult men who don't seem to know that any woman who smells them will avoid them at all costs. Even worse, it doesn't really go away. Thankfully it's not strong (I asked some dude friends to smell my head recently and one couldn't smell anything while the other identified the scent as "locker room douchebag"), but I'll occasionally catch whiffs of it over the course of the day and recoil. From myself. Weird. That said, it's a small price to pay for all-day hold that isn't greasy-looking and can still be touched without my hands getting all gooey!

I love using this Pomade. It Keeps my hair soft, healthy and easy to style, and just as easy to wash off. - This is a good choice pomade, it smells good and it works well for getting that sleek slicked back wet look. - I use this often, switching between a textured paste and this pomade. It gives a nice healthy shine and I know based on the ingredients I'm using a clean and safe product on my head. - The pomade comes in a 5 oz round tin. This is plenty of Pomade and will definitely last a good couple months. A single thumb size is all that's needed, (this stuff is thick), rub in with the fingers and palms and then massage onto towelled dried hair. Style and done. Simple! I recommend this pomade for a strong, shiny wet slicked back look. It's soft, easy to style and holds my hair in place all while keeping it healthy. Great quality product and value for money.
