2009 two CD release. Lindisfarne at the BBC-The Charisma Years 1971-73 captures one of Britain's most important Folk Rock groups at the height of their commercial success. The album draws together an eclectic range of material, comprehensively covering all their existing BBC sessions whilst signed to the Charisma label. Highlights include 'Lady Eleanor' (originally featured on the Fog on the Tyne album which spent four weeks at the #1 spot) taken from the BBC R1 Sounds of the '70s session on June 1971, and a wild rendition of the b-side 'Knackers Yard Blues', which is taken from a concert for John Peel, transmitted in June 1971. 36 tracks. EMI.

Lindisfarne is a great group and there are some great tunes on this ...
BBC performances from 71, 72, and 73. Lindisfarne is a great group and there are some great tunes on this set though CD 2 is the better of the two. CD 1 is culled from 3 different live broadcasts from 71, while CD 2 is also comprised of 3 live broadcasts. The audience is clearly enjoying a favorite band. There are only 2 things that I didn't care for and the first is that there are FIVE recordings of 'Lady Eleanor' from among these shows. I guess it's not too bad when you consider there are 36 tracks over the 2 discs but it's not my favorite song by them to begin with so 5 different takes was overkill for me. Anyway, for the sake of preserving the shows in their entirety it may please some (I don't know if the shows are in their entirety actually). The other thing that is highly annoying (though no fault of the group themselves) is the obnoxious BBC announcer who somehow manages to be the MC on all 6 broadcasts from these 3 years. Sheesh, what were they thinking letting this guy announce the group and cut in with cheeseball comments in between each every song? Oh well. These are still minor complaints because there is still a lot of good stuff in between the MC and too many 'Lady Eleanors'. CD 2 is really good. There are only 2 Lady Eleanors on CD 2 and there is a killer performance of 'Country Gentleman's Wife', which is pretty funny.

Absolutely first class service and great value! I absolutely love Lindisfarne in their line up and this has some great one off tracks played live at the BBC. I was first introduced to Lindisfarne by their Lindisfarne Live album, never got to actually see them live but with a decent pair of headphones, whack the volume up, close your eyes and travel back to a time of great music!

Early Hit's and more live at the BBC
I like a bit of early live Lindisfarne, and this is great. only 4 stars because it was marked but it still plays well.

Great double live CD
This is a very enjoyable trip through early Lindisfarne BBC live sessions. Better still it has an informative information booklet with it.

Lindisfarne early years
I really like this being a geordie lad myself and having seen Lindisfarne sevral times in late 70s and early eighties.I like this for the introductions from John Peel and the fact that some tracks are repeated and sound different in different venues. This is the line up that I will always remember with Ray Jackson ans the front man and Simon Cowe and Alan Hull backed by Ray Laidlaw and Rod Clemence. If you like Lindisfarne you will like this, it is a quirky set of recordings which lend a bit of atmosphere.Lady Eleanor is obviously a favourite as it is repeated at least three times on the two discs.

Excellent!
Pour le prix, une excellente rétrospective sur ce groupe pas trop connu par ici. A découvrir pour les amateurs de folk rock anglais.

To Hull and back
The much-missed Lindisfarne are in fine form throughout. From the days when the late, great Alan Hull was at the helm they are in peak condition on this great release. All their best moments are recreated for Auntie whose engineers got their trademark sound down a treat. Inevitably, one for the completists but having said that this stands up well alongside the original studio albums of the time.
