Elevate Your Culinary Experience with French Grey Salt
Thank you for letting me know that you purchased the product at the regular price on Amazon. In that case, you can still write a review based on your genuine experience with the French Grey Salt, emphasizing how it has enhanced your culinary French Grey Salt has quickly become a beloved staple in my kitchen. Its unique texture and flavor have elevated my culinary creations to a whole new level. This salt, also known as "sel gris," has a beautiful, coarse texture that provides a satisfying crunch and bursts of salty goodness in every bite. It's the perfect finishing touch for a wide range of dishes, from grilled steaks to roasted vegetables and even desserts like salted caramel. What truly sets French Grey Salt apart is its rich mineral content, which imparts a subtle complexity to the taste. You can taste the terroir of the salt marshes where it's harvested, and it's a testament to the craftsmanship that goes into its production. The resealable bag keeps the salt fresh and allows for easy dispensing. While it may be a bit pricier than table salt, a little goes a long way, and the results are well worth it. I found that the regular price on Amazon is a fair value for the quality and flavor this salt adds to my dishes. If you're passionate about cooking and want to take your dishes to the next level, French Grey Salt is a must-have in your pantry. It's a small investment that yields big flavor dividends.

Great choice
Excellent product. 2nd time ordering. I get the course grain and grind it myself. Lasts a long time. Delicious mild Grey sea salt.

Excellent salt, even for grinders*
We've been buying this S.F. Salt Co. French Grey coarse ground salt for years and absolutely love it. Per the bag label, it's a product of France. The keys to remember here is that this is (1) coarse grain salt and (2) it does tend to be a little wet/sticky. So, if you're going to use it in a salt grinder (like we do every day), you'll want to dry it first. We dry about half the 2 lb bag at a time, typically 225 for about 30 min in our countertop convection toaster oven and then once cooled, place it in a sealable mason type jar with a desiccant...from there, we fill our salt grinder as needed. The ingredient list is "Salt" and that's it. No iodine, and likely no "significant" amount of caking agent(s). The FDA says if it's an "incidental" amount, it's not required to be labeled, otherwise, it does. In this case, since it is a bit moist, it's likely there is nothing else in the bag aside from the natural salt from France. The most recent bag we went through (bought last summer, 2025), had an expiration date of February 28, 2029, so roughly 4 & 1/2 years for that one. However, it's salt, so it could conceivably last "forever." Although, freshness is another story. Absolutely the best sea salt we've ever had. Highly recommended!

Perfectly course and crunchy!
Love the flavor and crunch of the course salt. I had it at a friend's dinner party and have been purchasing it for our home ever since.

Best salt ever!
Best salt for breadmaking! I wonโt use anything else. My sister is just beginning her breadmaking journey. I sent this to her. Ant let her make bread without the best ingredients! Excellent taste and quality.

Delicious, but not the easiest salt to work with (though the taste is wonderful!)
I've had great luck with the San Francisco Salt Company, and this salt is no exception. The taste is wonderful. The only reason this isn't a 5 star review is due to the quite understandable but all the same frustrating inconsistency with sizing between salts. I was torn between the buying the fine or the coarse, but as a general rule I prefer coarser grains so went with that. The "grain" size of "coarse" grey salt, however, is quite a bit larger than black lava salt - but smaller than that of the pink Himalayan salt. And the photos online don't give you a true sense of relative grain size. My concern with the grey salt was that the natural moistness of the salt might make the coarser grains hard to work with if the were too large. (Pink Himalayan salt is a very large coarse grain, but I always put that in a grinder; again, because grey salt is moist, I knew that wouldn't be an option). And, as it turns out, these grains are just a bit too large to work with easily in a number of recipes...you can't control the distribution of salt as well as you can with Maldon flakes or coarse kosher salt. That said, I've found I can just pop some into a mortar and lightly grind it to the fineness I desire in a few seconds. So, problem solved - though I'll have to wait and see how I feel after working through the two pound bag before I'll know if the extra work is worth the trouble. But it is a mighty tasty salt...

Both my daughter and I love this salt! I was freaked out cause it looked wet. Realizing after it is supposed to be that way. It is our go too plus a little goes a long way!! Will never buy another salt.

So Flavourful, Good/High Quality
Excellent salt for finishing a nice cast iron steak. Keeps a good crunch, too! Comes in a resealable bag.

Full of water
This product is mostly water and the bag is very small. Very unhappy with this product.
