A life saver to someone new to hearing aids; very useful
My dad's hearing aid was giving him a lot of problems and my mom needed hearing aids. Not wanting my dad to get another substandard product, I decided to get involved and help out. I started to conduct what I expected to be a thorough review of the hearing aid options, I quickly got very confused trying to compare the wide array of options. I found this book on Amazon, ordered it and read it. Geoffrey makes everything clear and has lots of useful advice for someone new to the world of hearing aids. He provides a thorough run-down of all of the major hearing aid lines. He also describes the hearing testing process, the various providers, the various hearing aid form factors (very important), provides a comparison of rechargable vs disposable battery models, and provides useful care/maintenance tips. The main thing I would add is that if you don't know any hearing aid providers in the area, I'd recommend going to an audiologist over a hearing aid tech - unless that hearing aid tech is the author Geoffrey Cooling. One caution, I am reviewing the 2020 edition but as Geoffrey stresses hearing aid technology changes rapidly. Hopefully newer editions of this book will be forthcoming. I wouldn't purchase any hearing aid book that is older than 3 years max, no matter how good the author.

Updated each year
This book covers all the major brands of hearing aids and the various levels of technology available within each brand. Comparisons are made within a brand but not between brands. Highly recommended.

Very informative little book.
Very well written little book full of information which has helped me in my decision to go to an independent audiologist for help with my hearing loss.I now know what to expect and more importantly what questions I need to ask and will be taking the book with me. I would quite happily recommend this book to anyone with hearing loss.
