This is a compact book filled with a lot of practical information about the use of incense. In chapters 1 and 2 Harding writes about the phenomenon of smell, the psycho-spiritual effects of incense, and the most common incenses used in past and present cultures throughout the world. Chapter 3 [Incense Materials] and Chapter 4 [How to Burn Incense] I found to be the most useful. Harding describes in detail the different roots, resins/gums, woods/barks and flowers that are used in the preparation of various incenses.
