It's SO NICE to finally have a REAL rice cooker!
Five years ago in the Fall of 2017, I bought my first rice cooker. It was one of the simple 30-40 dollar ones that you put your rice in, flip the switch, and hope for the best. And, honestly, once I figured out what my rice-water ratio needed to be, I got used to it and was completely happy with it, even if I did have to wipe the counter clean when it boiled over and be satisfied that it might never be sparkly clean. But oh. my. gosh. I got this Toshiba rice cooker, and let me tell you, I have NEVER had a better rice-cooking experience. There was no more cleaning the counter off after an overboil. There was no more having to unplug my rice cooker every time the rice was done. There was no more wild guessing about my rice-water ratio and wait time once the switch flipped depending on how loud the ducks were quacking and which way the wind was blowing and how aligned the moon was with the stars that day. This thing was PERFECTION. The modularity of it makes it super easy to clean, and it actually gets *completely* clean. Every time. Not to mention, you know EVERY time exactly how long the rice will take to cook. You can set a timer (TWO timers, actually!) for when you want your rice to be done. It can actually keep the rice WARM without burning it all over the sides and bottom. AND it will beep a happy melody to you. My old rice cooker could never do that. My old rice cooker just heated to its maximum and said "when the water gone, we good". This one sings like a Gameboy happy to just be alive and cook good rice. This one gets me. There are only two real negatives with this rice cooker that I can think of, which aren't really big deals. First, the power plug is on the right side, which kind of stinks because I have it in a spot where it's to the right of an outlet, but it's no big deal -- the cord just wraps around easily. Second, cooking anything OTHER than rice in it tends to be a lot messier. This sucker knows its rice like it knows the time of day, and if you've been the victim of overboiling in traditional rice cookers, you'll wonder how you ever lived without this thing that barely even leaves water behind in the steam vent or on the top plate. However, when attempting to cook something like pasta or even a rice dish (like Mahatma Yellow Rice or Knorr rice dishes), it does, more often than not, boil up into the steam vent and leave a bit of a mess behind on the top plate. These types of things can also get overcooked if you let them go the whole cycle, so they're something you've got to figure out with a bit of trial and error. This isn't a big deal as, again, this rice cooker is mad easy to clean, but it might leave you feeling like you should have just made your pasta or your Knorr dish on the stove per their instructions. I can't really consider this worthy of taking away a star, though, as it's a rice cooker made for cooking plain ol' rice, but it is definitely something to keep in mind when you get it if you want to avoid a small mess. I HIGHLY recommend this rice cooker to anyone looking to improve their kitchen experience and having ready and reliably made rice available at-will. This thing is the real deal and more than worth the price tag if you eat rice regularly. An absolute five-star product and experience.

A fantastic meal-prep must-have!
I love cooking and don't mind the mess and work it takes to make a great meal, but this thing makes rice and meals so easy. It's easy to measure out your desired amount of rice, three cups dry, and it makes a perfect batch every time. The non-stick surface lets the cooked rice slide right out or you can cut it with a plastic spatula and dole it out right from the pot. Super easy to clean too! It has nice additions too to add flavor, and heck, if you want to make a full meal, just throw the ingredients right in, meat, veggies and all and let it do it's thing. This is my second one, btw - the first one was my best friend's/roomies and it's still going strong, so the thing is durable even after years of constant use! Like many appliances these days, it sings a little song when you start it and when it's done, so my place is like the Beauty and the Beast's castle but not a problem. It will keep the rice warm but I find it's best to remove the rice right when it's done for the best flavor and texture. Word of warning, get some pot holders - the pot is very hot when it's done.

Game Changer
This rice cooker has been a game changer! For years I've been cooking rice in an Instant Pot. I make a weekly batch of rice, mostly brown rice (basmati, jasmine, short-grain). I freeze the rice and use it for lunch and dinner. Though I didn't know this until recently, the cooling creates resistant starches which are a good source of fiber. The Instant Pot rice was always a bit sticky and wet. It tasted good and worked adequately for my purposes. Once cooled, it absorbs the moisture and when reheated, it's no longer sticky. Cooking rice in the Instant Pot presented some challenges. You need to be precise with the amount of added water or your rice won't turn out. I also felt I needed to monitor the cooking process and not leave it in the Pot for much longer than the allotted cooking time to prevent overcooking and burning. With this rice cooker, I can be less precise. I fill the cooking pot with water to the appropriate line by sight alone, approximately. I no longer need to monitor the cooking because it doesn't overcook or burn if left in the rice cooker after the cooking is complete. And the rice has been perfectly cooked every time! I can empty the rice into a larger bowl and toss it with my fingers or a spoon and it's the right amount of moist. No two grains stick together. If you cook rice regularly, I highly recommend a rice cooker, both for quality, consistency, and ease.

Still an excellent cooker 6 years later
I have had this Toshiba rice cooker since March, 2020. It still works and looks as brand new. It still cooks , in my opinion, the absolutely best rice, including sticky rice. While I have kept it primarily for simple rice, it also does well with other ‘rice cooker’ recipes. Never a failed batch. I am using now as I write this review. Will be adding a second one for more variety and ease of cooking meals.

Reliable Rice Cooker with Fuzzy Logic – Great Value, Minor Trade-Offs
I held off on buying a rice cooker for years, sticking to the pot method, which worked fine. After a lot of research, I finally chose this model—and I’m glad I did. It’s a great balance of features and price without jumping into the really expensive models. The fuzzy logic setting is what makes it stand out. Rice comes out consistently perfect, no babysitting needed. The unit itself is lightweight, easy to move around, and the sleek design looks good on the counter despite being larger than the small round cookers. Beyond white rice, it can handle different types and even other dishes, which adds versatility. Pros: • Fuzzy logic = consistently cooked rice • Lightweight but solid build • Sleek, modern design • Easy to use and clean • Cooks a variety of rice types and more Cons: • Included steam tray is plastic (would prefer stainless steel) • Larger than smaller round models Overall: This is a solid, reliable rice cooker that offers excellent value for the price. While I wish the steam tray were stainless steel, the performance and ease of use outweigh that downside. After many years of cooking rice on the stove, this upgrade feels worth it—I’d recommend it to anyone who wants perfect rice with minimal effort.

Good rice,good feeling.
Toshiba Low-Carb Rice Cooker – Very Highly Recommended I’ve been using the Toshiba Low-Carb Rice Cooker, and it has been extremely helpful for anyone looking to reduce carbohydrate intake and better manage blood sugar levels. • Lower carbs, better control: The low-carb cooking method removes excess starch, helping prevent sharp blood sugar spikes. • Great-tasting rice: The rice comes out soft, fluffy, and flavorful — it doesn’t feel like “diet food” at all. • Easy to use: Simple one-button operation with consistent results every time. • Easy to clean: Removable inner parts make cleaning quick and hassle-free. For anyone who wants to eat rice more mindfully while maintaining good health, I very highly recommend the Toshiba Low-Carb Rice Cooker. It’s a small change in how you cook rice, but it can make a big difference in long-term health.

It’s a winner!!!
Wow! Great rice cooker. With so many choices out there I wasn’t sure but after checking with my daughter who researched rice cookers she suggested this would be what I was looking for. I wasn’t sure about the cleaning of the unit but once I cleaned it i found it was not as complicated as I thought it would be. It cooks brown rice perfectly and even Zataran’s Spanish rice. The price is reasonable and it arrived overnight. This is a keeper.

MAGNIFICA COMPRA ....
