Q: Do you need to peel the cloves before pressing?

Yes, you do have to peel the garlic. But I found that the big benefit is that you don't always have to clean it after every use. I fill it with garlic, use what I need then put the press (and whatever garlic is still in it) in the fridge for the next time I need it.

Q: Can it be used to grind perpers and herbs

No. It twists down and squishes the garlic

Q: Can we get a replacement part? The round piece at end of screw/press is lost.

Hi Greg Do you have the old style press with the "T" shaped handle or the new style with the "Y" shaped handle? The round piece is almost the same and might work. I do have one of the old style that i kept with my old press. Be carefull to insert it the correct way or it will break out the bottom of the press, then like me you will need a whole new press. In conclusion you can have the old one of mine if you would like. John
