Old school but still works!
Needed a firewire card for my PC (Windows 10 Home) to download and convert my Mini DV tapes to MP4 video. Didn't think it worked at first but the device manger said it was running with the most recent driver. Then i discovered it is all about the program you have to move the data to your PC. There are expensive Adobe programs and other capture video programs out there but the one I found is an old program , simple to use and works on Windows 10 called "STOIK Capture". Downloaded the program, plugged my camcorder with the Mini DV Tape and BA BOOM! program recognized my camcorder and the rest was easy.
