Text discontinuities and print errors.
Kindle edition has some text discontinuities and typing errors. Otherwise the book is very scholarly.

Great Overview of Greek and Hellenistic Culture
This is a collection of highly readable and enjoyable essays about many aspects of Greek including Hellenistic Culture. The focus is not on the political history but on philosophy, art, architecture etc. The essays are all of very high quality. Given the difficult sources, it is very understandable that there is little about reconstructing daily life or economic development. This is maybe not for someone who wants a first introduction and obviously, it will have little new to the specialist, but for anyone in between, a very enjoyable read.

このオクスフォード大学出版の歴史シリーズは、いずれも格調の高さが特徴。もっとも、出版時期が新しくなるにつれて、やや、話し口調的になってきますが。 もともと古代ギリシャ史の解明にはイギリス人が大きく貢献してきましたし、その影響は今でも健在。そんな自負も垣間見える本作品。読ませます😊

Useful summary of the subject
The Oxford History of Greece and the Hellinistic World gives a bird's eye view of the period. For the reader who is unfamiliar with Greek and Hellenistic history and its art and literature, this is a good introductrion. For the Reader who once took an interest in these matters and would like to get reacquainted with them, this book should offer a good reminder of things forgotten. The book is well-written and stimulating and well suited for the general reader. The specialist might want to look elsewhere.
