Amazon Basics Aluminum Gigabit USB 3.0 to Ethernet Adapter - Compact Plug and Play Network Adapter, Grey

I have a battered old Toshiba laptop and the best speed I could ever get out of its Ethernet port connected to my Tenda Mesh Node was 90 Mbps. I plugged this in and was absolutely astonished to get nearly 890 Mbps! I have never achieved anywhere near those speeds on my fibre connection, even plugged into the router. Even more impressive is that this particular node is the furthest away from the router. I cannot recommend this product enough. Well done Amazon!

Really good value for money and does the job

I wanted to test my router speed after upgrading to full fibre. The only way to do this reliably is to connect a computer to the router directly. As my laptop did not include a built-in ethernet port, an adapter was required. This Amazon Basics adaptor worked perfectly. I simply plugged the USB C into my laptop and used a high speed ethernet cable (min cat5e) to connect to the router. Running a simple test confirmed the speed. No set-up was necessary - it just worked.

Worked fine on PC and windows laptop but I couldn't get it to work on a Switch - don't think it's advertised as working on a Switch so that's fair enough. Might have worked with the right adapter but I didn't go too far down the rabbit hole. On laptop it gave me speeds which seemed to be maxed out around a couple hundred mbps and worked without needing rebooting or giving any problems. Good alternative if you break the ethernet port on your laptop as two of our kids have managed.

Works as expected and provides the speeds needed from a USB3 port.

I bought this adapter to use a Intel i7 8th gen laptop as a home server. The adapter uses a ASIX AX99179 chipset (HW ID 0b95:1790). It works well most of the time, maintaining the 1Gbps rate. However about two to three times every week it will just drop the ethernet link and will only recover after disconnecting and reconnecting the ethernet cable.

Stopped working within 6 months of buying it. AVOID.

Why a unicorn? Because as far as I know there is no smart-TV that has a gigabit connection natively. And when streaming from my HTPC at 4k I was getting stutter despite the fact that my network is build around Gigabit connection and I've wired it using Cat 7. I had already purchased a USB-Gigabit dongle from a different vendor and while it worked for a while it was constantly loosing the IP address I had assigned. After checking the lease length and the MAC address reservation I gave up after several weeks. I will say that the vendor just gave me a full Amazon credit without any issues. This leads me to believe that they knew there was a problem. Since none of the dongles go into what chip sets they use I had to get creative in my search. I went about this by looking at the positioning of the network lights. If they were in the same place as the one giving me problem I passed on them. The other issue was the case material. The prior unit has a plastic case that would get very warm so I wanted one that had better heat dissipation. The led me to this one. I have had it connected to my network for over 2-months now and I have had 0 issues! Speed tests show at or close to 1 Tb speeds and I have yet to drop a connection. The only thing that is odd is that the MAC address is 02:00:00:00:00:00:00:00 which usually indicates a custom ROM. Since this isn't causing issue on my network I am ignoring it for now. All in all this is a cheap, well made, and stable network dongle to give your TV 1 Tb connectivity for streaming.

相当に熱くなるとのレビューが散見されたが、このレビュー直前に購入したロットでは問題無かった。わずかに暖かくはなるが、感覚的に数百mW程度と極普通だ。 動作も問題なく、早々にルーターとの直結で大活躍してくれた。 確かに動作表示LEDは眩しすぎる。電流の流し過ぎだ。このあたりはハードウェア設計者の責任。

Seit es keine RJ45 Buchsen an den PCs mehr gibt (Microsoft HDG sei Dank), ist das notwendig, um die Bandbreite eines Netzanschlusses voll nutzen zu können. Dieses kleine Gimmick stellt an einem USB3.0 Anschluß eine Verbindung dar, die 150Mb/s realisieren kann - wahrscheinlich auch mehr. Klein und handlich zu einem guten Preis.
