Does this ipad hdmi adapter to tv have to be charged while connected to hdmi port?

Hello, dear friend. Thanks for your inquiry. No, our upgrade Lightning HDMI Digital AV Adapter don't have to connect to charging port when HDMI works. When your device is running out of juice, please connect to power to make sure it works stably.

Will this act as a powered hub? by that i mean, if i plug in the charging cable, will it apply voltage to usb mixers and things that need more power?

I have not tried connecting additional USB hubs to this device. However, I know some of the USB hard drives require the power cable to be plugged in.

What is the fastest usb technology the device supports; e.g., usb 2, usb 3.0, usb 3.1? please note that i am interested in the usb rating to run ssds.

I would think the fastest would be USB-C

Is this device compatible with a 5th geneation ipad

The USB ports and card reader on the hub has worked on my 5th generation ipad. However, there is an issue when trying to mirror the display through the HDMI port. I have not been able to find the display mirroring option in iPad OS.
