I didn't want to remain a hick from the mountains... In my cultural naivete I saw McDonald's as a place somehow where modern culture capital could be dispensed. Keeping these memories in mind as years later I monitored scores of conversations about the Golden Arches in the late 1990s, it became apparent that McDonald's is still considered a marker of modern identity.

This is a great book with insights that transfer beyond McDonald’s
This is a great book with insights that transfer beyond McDonald’s. The book is from an academic publisher, so it may have somewhat limited appeal. Frankly, readers will get the most from it if they are already familiar with Paulo Freire and critical pedagogy in general (see Kincheloe’s “Critical Pedagogy Primer”). Readers might also enjoy the book “Kinderculture: the Corporate Construction of Childhood.” Recently, I had the opportunity to cite this book in an article (in press). I sincerely wish I could have known the late Joe Kincheloe, and I am so thankful for the insights in his writings.

is it the rigt sight of McDonald's or just author 's personal problem?
This is a book, which is very hard to read. Only a few passages are readable. Do not recommend the book for a reader, who do not know economic terms or reader, who is not native speaker. Author is still describing all the things over and over again - he is repeating himself, which normal reader can find boring.
