Dissolves Stubborn Mineral Deposits Safely (Coating & Clear Coat Safe)
Living in a hard water area means water spots are an absolute nightmare, especially on darker paintwork. After trying various detailing sprays that did nothing, I picked up Gtechniq W9 to tackle some stubborn mineral spots on the bonnet and glass, and it performed brilliantly. The Breakdown: • Pros: The biggest selling point is that it is chemically formulated to dissolve the calcium and magnesium deposits without using harsh abrasives. This means it won't scratch your clear coat or strip away high-end ceramic coatings or sealants if used correctly. It works incredibly fast on glass and gloss trim, leaving a perfectly clean surface behind. • Cons: It is important to manage expectations—this is a chemical remover for mineral deposits, not a magic fix for physical defects. If the water spots have been baked in the sun for months and have actually etched deeply into your clear coat, W9 won't fix that; you’ll need a machine polish. It’s also a premium-priced detailing product, but you don't need to use a massive amount per panel. Performance & Real-World Use: Application requires a bit of care. You must work out of direct sunlight on a panel that is completely cool to the touch. I sprayed it directly onto the affected areas, let it dwell for about 2 minutes to let the chemistry do the heavy lifting, and then wiped it away with a damp microfiber towel before rinsing thoroughly. It effortlessly shifted the unsightly white rings around the window trim and rear decklid that regular washing couldn't touch. Final Verdict: An essential bottle to have in your detailing kit if you take pride in your car's finish. It saves a massive amount of time compared to polishing and protects your existing wax or ceramic layers. Just catch the spots early before they cause permanent etching, and this bottle will keep your paint looking flawless.

‘Didn’t do what it said on the tin’.
It rained while in Jersey and didn’t wipe it off quick enough and sun dried the wster globules onto the horizontal painted surfaces. Bought this product and carefully applied as Cb per instructions. One star awarded as it did not remove or even lessen the residual marks. Consequently had to use car polish which was a lot of hard work for which I purchased this product hoping to avoid.

Worked in my situation
Was hoping this simple product would work on my dark blue Mercedes van as I watched it on a YouTube video. It had been ceramic coated, but developed bad water spots. nothing else removed (vinegar did nothing alone). It does take quite a bit of rubbing and applications. Each time the spots got less until the third application did take it off and looks great again. It was a lot of hand rubbing and product (will have to order more), but the detailer said they would have had to buff it out ($500.) and then reapply ceramic coat. Hopefully the coating is till intact and does bead up nicely after a ceramic detailer was applied after the w-9. So far, pleased even though a lot of work with carefully washing, drying and the applications. No way to tell without trying!

WOW!! It actually works!
My husband's car was parked by a sprinkler, and we have very hard water, which left water spots horribly on the right side hood fender and partially on the door. I had tried vinegar and other products to try to remove it to no avail. We were told it would have to be professionally buffed out. I received this product today and used it only on the hood and the upper part of the metal between the driverside door and windshield. It completely removed the water spots!! You do have to use a little elbow grease if they are really stuck on there, aka baked on, but it worked and is totally worth the effort! I read comments prior to purchase, and the bad reviews stated it only smells like vinegar, which it does, but I can smell other chemicals in this bottle. As others have commented, this is more than glorified vinegar.

Good luck. You’ll definitely need it.
I've been a fan of Gtechniq products for a while, but this one just doesn't live up to the hype. I have some moderately difficult water spots on my car's windows and paint, and I was hoping this would be a simple, quick fix as advertised. Unfortunately, it barely touched the spots, even after multiple applications and a lot of elbow grease. It seems to work well on very fresh, light spots, but for anything that's been there for a while, you're better off using a vinegar solution or a more aggressive polish. It's a lot of money for a product that only works on the easiest of water spots.
