Perfect companion to drapes
Very well made. Just the right amount of weight to do the job, but not too heavy to lift. Looks good hanging from the rod when not in use. I like the transportability of this device from one room to another so I do not have to purchase one for each window. I have used other devices to open my drapes, but this is perfectly designed for the purpose. I can easily slide grommet drapes over a sliding rod, even over the place where the two rods intersect. For the first time since I bought them, I can slide my clip-ring curtains over the rod to open and close them without climbing on a stool. The rod works well to even the folds in drapes. I didn't know how much I needed this item until I got it. It would make a great gift for anyone else with grommet-top curtains, especially ones that have furniture in front of them, so that one cannot easily reach the rods to open the drapes.

Just what I needed
This works really well for closing my blackout curtains with grommets on top. It is easy to hook a grommet and pull the curtain along the rod and is long enough to reach where I otherwise could not get to. It is true that the connection between the parts comes unscrewed in time, but so far this has not annoyed me enough to get out the glue and make a permanent fix. I am sure just a dab of glue on the parts before screwing together would cure this. Wish it were white as then it would blend better into the window frame when I hang it on the rod in the middle - but this is in a home office and the black is not a big deal there. If it were I could hang it behind the curtain on the inside of the rod. It is a sturdy metal so I am sure this will last longer than the curtains.

Does the job
It looks nice, but is a little wiggly in the middle at the join. It does the job and was fairly inexpensive.

USE LOCK-TITE ON THE THREADS!!!
I just purchased two of these. I have grommet top curtains on most of my windows. I read the reviews before buying and the recurring theme seemed to be a complaint that the wand would come unscrewed in the middle. (To assemble, you have to screw it together.) I can see how it would tend to loosen up. Put Lock-Tite on the threads!!! I did that immediately and no issues at all. I have one inch rods so the hook does not fit over that, but it can be hooked into a grommet to push or pull the curtain. I can even just put the hook between the folds and push them. It also works really good for adjusting the folds so they look good when the curtains are closed. For storage the hook fits easily over the finial close to the rod so that is where I store them. Someone suggested keeping it on the window sill behind the curtains. That would work too. The wand was easy for me to use right away but my husband had to practice a little. Anyplace the grommets want to hang on the rod ridge, it's easy to use the hook to kind of lift it over. I like this a lot. I am sure it will save wear and tear and greasy paw prints on my curtains.

doesn't really work as advertised....
The quality of this product is fine but it doesn't really work well as a pull rod -- I have fairly standard drapery panels and the pull rod does not fit so the drapery panels aren't really pulled -- rather, I have to push them using the rod. Ineffective.

Defective
The threads were defective and this would not stay screwed together.

my big concern was getting them dirty from hands opening and closing them
When I purchased my new draperies with grommets, my big concern was getting them dirty from hands opening and closing them, since they don't come with any pulls. The girl at JCP said she understood, but had no remedy. I certainly didn't want to put on a white glove every time I wanted to move my drapes.Googled my problem, and this rod came up on Amazon. Added bonus; when arranging them, you can stand back and see without getting up and down on a ladder. Took about a minute on each side to arrange them perfectly. It's great, light weight, just long enough to reach the grommets. I can arrange and re-arrange to my hearts content. It is attractive, so I lean it next to the door frame. (A reminder to hubby what it's there for.) I also told the girl at JCP about it, the next time I was in there store. Surprised they didn't know about these pull rods, or better still, carry them in that department.
