A pleasant surprise ...
I've been a martial artist for over 40 years. Made the move from hand-to-hand to weapons about 30 years ago. So you can trust me when I say this walking axe is well made, sturdy, well balanced and razor sharp. I ran through a couple kama kattas with it and it actually worked out better than a kama. Resting the shaft against my forearm through strikes and slashes, then letting it shoot out the extra 2 feet mid-strike like a tonfa, added a new depth to the ferocity and potential destructive force of each form. The slight flex of the shaft allows even greater speed, as it creates a mild whipping motion, amplifying the speed and force of swinging blows. It's my new go-to for romps in the deep, dark woods as well as night time strolls in the big, bad city. I reccomend it. Big time.

As a walking stick it's pretty nice but top heavy. The actual "stick" part is resin and will bend if alot of preasure is applied. The head is metal, the blade takes and keeps an edge. You can chop wood with it, but it's not as efficiant as a real axe. As a walking stick, it is pretty cool looking and it easily supports my weight. I used some 1/8" leather cord on the head and stick for visual affect and better grip on the head. For me this was a nice purchase.

Face the Apocalypse head on!
This is more of a zombie combat self defense walking stick axe. However, it does have enough muscle to cut down a small tree if you had to. Good quality and construction and works real well as a cane on the trails and plus it just looks cool. Can be used to drag objects and the point ontop the blade can be used for thrusting. The spike is more of a blunted point. Buy one now and dont be caught empty handed amidst the chaos when western civilization collapes.

Understand what it really is
This is modern version of a ciupaga, a traditional shepherds tool. It is not a Viking axe ,two handed chopping axe or hatchet! It was intended to be used as a walking stick and herding guide plus a weapon against predators and rustlers. The light weight head is shaped so that both thrusting and dragging as well as swinging are possible with one hand. The walking stick grip acts as stabilizer to keep the blade leading. The partial tang adds strength at the point where most axes fail, just below the eye. On the negative side the clever sheath does not stay closed but adding a rubber band cures that. The shaft is too thin for a comfortable grip and the rubber end will wear off in a couple miles. By adding a grip from a bicycle and tip from a crutch, this has become my favorite woods hiking tool.

M48 Kommando Survival Hiking Axe Staff
Item arrived in a timely manner and in good condition, plus appears as advertised. It is sturdily built, and comes with the blade sharpened and sheathed. It is indeed of lighter weight, but is more towards the size of a walking stick, than a staff. The feature on the rear side of the head ends in a semi-blunt, hammer-like surface, although impractical to be used as such. Would be nice if they redesigned it into a true point. I am pleased with the item.

It held up pretty well for my trip out in the woods. Barely had to sharpen it and love the look of it too

The size is smaller than expected but still a good size. I am 5f9 and it reaches the belt from the floor. Blade is sharp and looks like it can be sharpened. Very durable. Overall satisfied with the price.

Much Smaller Than You Think
For some reason I figured this thing would be a walking stick...like the description said. In 5'11 and it is barely a walking cane, so for you big Vikings out there, don't expect to strut around like Rollo or Gimli. The sheath is a little strange, but the axe comes with a decent edge, though the blade lacks decent size. I won't be chopping any timber any time soon but if a critter tries to ruin my hike they're in for a big surprise.
