Have you ever wondered what happens during a swipe of a credit card? Every major tech company will become a payments company. Yet, not many people understand how payment systems in the US work. Those that do "get it" are unlocking multi-billion dollar opportunities. If you've ever wondered what happens when you actually swipe/dip/tap your credit card or debit card then The Anatomy of the Swipe breaks down the details in the simplest manner possible. Here are some questions answered within these pages: How does money move from my credit card to my favorite coffee shop? How can I build a neo-bank? How can I build my own debit or credit card? How can I accept card based payments? The Anatomy of the Swipe speaks to software developers and entrepreneurs who are looking at implementing card-based payments for the first time, merchants who want to be able to accept payments for a website or store, or those who want to issue their own debit/credit card. This book walks beginners through modern innovations created because of card-based payments, as well as the motivations and revenue models of each party in the payments ecosystem. Review: Great book on payment basics - Overall the book is well structured around payment value chain. Talking about all the elements of card swipe to bank transfers. Would recommend it for all who are starting their careers in payments. Review: Costly - Price is too high

Not a real book
Short breakdown of the content: 10% - mentions of random people at the end 10% - copy-pasted out of context illustrations 10% - irrelevant stories attempting to illustrate the concept (my favorite is the 2-page story illustrating chargebacks that does not feature chargeback) 20% - references to itself with recaps, summaries, whatever 10% - irrelevant stories from author's life 10% - blank pages That coupled with immensely large font means that the "book" can be distilled to 20 minutes longread. There are books that cover card payments along the way as a by-product in much more detail than this dedicated masterpiece.

Terrific book, very informative, great for those looking to learn about payments & cards. 10/10!
I recently changed industries and am new to the world of fintech and payments. I needed to get up to speed really quickly as I joined a fast paced start-up in a sales role. I first read Payment Systems in the US, which while extremely informative, was also a bit overwhelming as it is essentially a textbook on payment rails. Ahmed's book The Anatomy of the Swipe takes a very different approach. It is a very easy read, well written, has great stories, examples, and illustrations, and has helped me understand the complex world of cards in an extremely fast manner. I couldn't recommend this book enough as it is an amazing way to learn about card based payments and everything that is involved when you swipe (or tap) a card to pay for something. 10/10!
