Really makes the branding personal to your relationships
Quick read, great questions to help one get more clear on purpose, and branding. What it did most for me was help to clarify that a brand is about how we impact others and relationships. This took it to heart for me and how I would like others to be impacted by my choices, behaviors and treatment of them.

Short, realistic, and thought-provoking
Interesting and fairly quick read on how to build a brand to improve yourself and those around you both in the workplace and in personal settings. Lots of good insights and actionable take-always as well!

good advice
a good book about how to understand self-branding and how to accomplish being recognized as your own brand. The ideas are presented clearly and from a human rather than business perspective. A useful book for many applications, not just business and career.

Loved it!
Good information to have. I have passed it along to my son. He says it has helped him to know what to focus on to help move his career along the way.

Be Your Own Brand A Breakthrough Formula for Standing Out From the Crowd
This book presents a simple brand model as a way of thinking about your self-brand. It is a strong way to help the reader organize his/her thinking and understanding of the different components of a self brand. The authors introduce the concepts of `standards' and `style' which I believe are important in the self-branding process. As a matter of fact, these components are more relevant to self-branding than they are in the corporate world of branding companies and products. There are great examples in this book that really bring to life the concepts presented.

This 2002 book shows readers how to identify and grow their own brand in both their personal and work lives. Using branding practices from the marketing world, they apply those concepts to individuals to help them become better at what they do and who they are. They claim that personal brands come down to competencies (one's roles), standards, and style. For example, competencies could include librarian, wife, sister, mother, volunteer. Standards could include efficient, disciplined, flexible, and self-directed. Style could include caring, approachable, enthusiastic, and honest. Exercises in the book help the reader identify their most important values and understand their competencies, standards, and style in a way that improves one's personal and work relationships. I think this book would be useful for anyone trying to improve their work and personal relationships, but it would be particularly helpful for entrepreneurs or others trying to establish a business. A second edition of this book was published in 2012.
