Don't waste your money on big-name-brands! Buy THESE!
I've been wearing Western-style boots all my life, and the fit and materials of these Old West boots rival boots that I've paid over $300 for. The toe is between and R and J style, and does not ride-high or clip. You won't have to worry about scuffing the toe or hanging it as you move from gas-to-brake or shift gears on a motorcycle. The toe-area is ample for a narrow or normal width foot, and size is TRUE.Pros:All leatherDeep chocolate-brown colorQuality stitchingLeather footbed (interior)Leather shaftTall shaft (a good 2" taller than my favorite Dingo's)Rubber sole/heel provide excellent grip for driving or motorcycle ridingCons:Takes about 12-hrs of wearing to break them in fully... by the 3rd day, they feel like second skin!If you're not use to wearing a "real" cowboy boot, you may want to add a foam insert or heel-pad after you break them in, as these do NOT have any insole like you'd find in the "city-style" boots. These are also taller than most of your "city" boots, and for many, that will take some getting use to.I no longer spend hundreds of dollars for a brand-name boot, when these Old West boots are some of the best quality I've ever worn, and they last! This is my 3rd pair of Old West, and the ones I bought years ago still look like new (when polished-up), and feel great on!

4 Years of Wear Updated Review: Great Looking, Durable and Great Value
UPDATED after 4 YEARS of WEAR: These boots are awesome. First some specs, I wear 10.5 in street shoes and the 11DM fits me perfectly; I use Sof Sole Men's Arch Full Length Comfort High Arch Shoe Insole (found on Amazon) cut to shape of boot; I wear tube socks because the top of the boot is higher than most socks and will chafe your leg; I wear these with business suits; and, finally, I have worn these every other day (I alternate with a brown boot) for the past 4 years. I had to replace the heel once in that time but never the rubber sole.I love these boots. They look great paired with the suit, I get a lot of compliments and they are super comfortable. They are relatively durable, I am updating this review because after 4 years of almost constant wear, a lot of walking, including on construction sites, a small tear finally opened on the side of the boot and I have come straight back to this listing to replace them. They are the same price as 4 years ago (nice) and given the price and wear, I think they are a great value. They have just the right amount of point to the toe and the scroll pattern is subtle, so I can easily wear them with business suits and most people compliment when they notice them.I specifically wanted a boot with a rubber sole, I know there are tons of other much higher quality leather boots out there expected to last a lifetime but that was not what I am looking for here. I wear these things hard and they have served me well. Also, and this is my fault, for the first few years I did not maintain them as well as I should and I consider any premature wear to be due to that fact. When I switched from wingtips at work to cowboy boots I did not continue the same weekly maintenance regime that I had with my leather dress shoes. The finish on these boots was so good that it was only after a few years of use that it dulled to the point where I went back to regular oiling/waxing, etc.All told, these were my "gateway" boots and I am now a diehard cowboy boot wearer. They are comfortable, hug the foot just enough, provide solid traction with the rubber sole (though not in snow and also not made for that so not a demerit) and overall I am very pleased with them.

Appear to be much more boot than the price would indicate.
I ordered these (Old West Boots, black, in 12M) hoping that they'd arrive before I went on vacation in the Southwest but they didn't - no worries I have two other pair in Black Cherry and Tan. Have just returned and the weather so far has been too hot to wear long pants so...my review is based on my wearing them in the house for an afternoon. At first I was worried because one of the pull straps had an area eating into my calf - turned out to be a stray thread end that was very sharp but easily removed with scissors and care. I can't believe the quality (OK the leather appears to have more of an middle-Eastern finish than American) and they quickly took a high shine. My daughter says that boots aren't supposed to be that shiny anyway. The fit is excellent and the soles are of a much higher quality than I would expect for a low-priced boot. Overall, at this time, I highly recommend them; if that were to change, I'll be updating my review.

Inexpensive? Yes! But you can't beat the quality at this price-point... anywhere!
I found Old West by accident, and they are my favorite boot brand. Yes, they are inexpensive, but they fit perfectly, wear well, and are cheap enough to not have a heart attack if you scuff them up! These are real leather upper and shaft... not faux-leather (vinyl), and the soles wear very well. I wear boots every day... from the farm-chores to riding motorcycles to a night on the town with my wife, these are my go-to boots. I do recommend if you want an insole (as these are true cowboy style, no fancy cushion insole), you should order half-size up to make room. I wear 9.5D in dress-shoes and boots, and these fit perfectly (a little snug at first, but break-in fast) and are true-to-size.I have a couple pair of Old West boots that are several years old... and they clean-up to near-new looks... and they feel like second-skin! I've never had a pair of Old West boots "fall apart" on me... yes, they "wear-out", but you'll get several good years out of them before they need replacing. I can't say that about some of my more expensive brands... some of which were retired after only a year or two.My oldest son recently switched to Old West (after asking about mine), and he is quite pleased that he can buy 3-4 pair of Old West for what he was paying for one pair of Ariat (which he would wear-out or destroy in less than a year). The pair he bought 6-months ago (just like these) still look great, and have less wear than his more expensive brands after the same amount of wearing.
