This was a great gift for my niece, not only was it nostalgic, it also offers new features with the digimon being their X-program variants. Honestly I cannot find any Cons to this product as it delivers exactly as it describes. Features: Digimon now level up, max level for the final form is 10 There is a questing system which is a change from champion mode on the 20th anniversary version. You get items to help feed your digimon and also help towards the quests. There are random battle encounters which give your digimon exp boosts as well as random gifts Instead of putting your digimon to sleep for 3 hour intervals if you're busy like in v.20th, you can now put your digimon into the fridge (cryo sleep) indefinitely should you have a very busy schedule, also the digimon can sleep as regular at night and can even digivolve whilst asleep. You have have up to 3 digimon in this version, but you look after them individually which is great for beginners who can't handle raising multiple at once. I highly recommend this version as your first digivice if you have never bought one before however don't let this review stop you from getting a v.20th if you choose, all of them are great fun

Great fun, blast form the past honestly.

This was suppose to be a brand new one since it was straight from amazon, but it was not! It had a pre existing file on it with a mega level Digimon, backed up on it and 27 of the 30 quests where done. I think it's last owner got bored too soon and must have re-tabbed and sealed it. Am not bothered though it was not new it was in good condition. You need to start checking your returns Amazon, but aside from that it's ok and works. So no point in complaining about it. I just restarted and I will start it anew, would have been a 5 out of 5 if it where new in box, but since it's ok you get a 4 out of 5.

I recently got a Tamagotchi for a bit of nostalgia and this piqued my interest after coming up in the searches. I had no idea Digimon was created by the same people as Tamagotchi and I have to say it's brilliant. I went for the X version over the original for the extra features but will pick up an original at some point. A lot of the stuff is the same, feeding, cleaning etc.. but there's loads of other mechanics here that make this a brilliant little device. There's evolutions, a training and battle system along, a dice system (xai) along with gaining XP. It took me a while to get my head around it all to be honest but now I've got it I'm really enjoying it. I'm not going to explain all the mechanics because I'll be here all day but for such a little device it's really sophisticated. There's loads to keep you interested rather than just out it down and have a look every now and again. Training and battling is a lot of fun. At some point I hope I can battle someone else. Overall, this is an amazing device.

Great blast of nostalgia. I got 2 so my brother could have one (we both well into our 30's and both married with children😂) and it was fun for a bit but unsurprisingly got boring after about a week. Still fun to have tho

This is an interesting update to the recent 20th Anniversary Digimon. The animations are new and it has new mechanics which add nice variation. It also has a great feature that allows you to freeze your digimon if you are unable to look after it for a while. Another great update is that I noticed the digimon poos and gets sick way less frequently which is welcome as the 20th anniversary device was way too needy, you could barely take your eyes off it for more than an hour or two. On a side note, I noticed there was a review here that said there was no way to change to battery so they threw it away. PLEASE IGNORE THIS REVIEW!! There is a small panel on the back with a small screw, once removed you can replace the battery in a couple of minutes with a 2032 battery.

Aus nostalgiegründen, und eigentlich als Ersatz für einen Tamagotchi für mein Kind gekauft, "spiele" ich jetzt doch jeden Tag ein wenig damit und hab sogar ein zweites dazugeholt. Digimon ist als Kind komplett an mir vorbeigegangen. Ich selbst war Tamagotchi und Pokemon Kind. Mein Kind wollte dann irgendwie auch unbedingt ein Bitzee oder Tamagotchi haben. Leider wurde das Tamagotchi dann ständig krank oder sch*ss sich ein und nörgelte ständig. Es musste also etwas her, dass selbst für kinder, ohne Zeiteinstellungs-Workaround, zu pausieren ist. Da bin ich auf diese Digimon gestoßen. Funktionen Die Funktionen sind erst einmal sehr ähnlich zu einem Tamagotchi. Man füttert, mach Kac*e weg und legt es abends schlafen. Statt es aber zum "Lernen" zu schicken oder mit ihm zu spielen muss man hier trainieren und Kämpfen um es hochzuleven und "digitieren" zu lassen. Im Unterschied zu allen(?) anderen Tamgotchi oder Digimon kann man das Digimon hier einfrieren, indem man tagsüber das Licht ausmacht, oder es ins Backup verschieben, ohne ein Neues Digimon heranwachsen zu lassen. Damit hält man sozusagen die Zeit an und wird nicht ständig genervt oder das Digimon stirbt einfach. Das kann man grundsätzlich für immer tun. Man kann übrigens 2 Digimon gleichzeitig auf einem System haben. Kämpfe Das Kampfsystem ist im Grunde eher einfach, im Hintergrund aber doch sehr komplex und leider nirgends (und vor allem nicht auf deutsch) beschrieben. Man muss trainieren und Proteine verfüttern, damit das Digimon in den Abenteuern/Kampfserien gewinnt. Das passiert durch ein "Spiel" bei dem man schaffen muss zum richtigen Zeitpunkt die mittlere taste zu drücken. Thats ist. Es levelt dabei auf. Dann wartet man auf das Digitieren und kann dann in höheren Leveln weiterkämpfen. Wo es komplex, und zu komplex für Kinder, wird, ist das XAI-System und das "Schere-Stein-Papier"-System. Letzteres wird in der Anleitung kein einziges Mal erwähnt. Jedes Digimon hat wohl ein Attribut (Serum, Datei, Virus), die sich in irgendeiner Beziehung zueinander besser oder schlechter besiegen können. Welches Attribut man beim digitieren bekommen variiert nach gut oder schlechtbehandlung des Digimon. Welches Attribut ein Digimon hat erkennt man leider nur sehr versteckt in der Übersicht (Englisch: Va, Da, Vi). Ehrlich gesagt war es mir bisher zu doof darüber nachzudenken wie oft ich den K*t meines Digimon während meiner Arbeitszeit wegmache nur um VIrus zu bekommen. Und meinem Kind beizubringen, dass es den K*t nicht weg,achen soll um ein anderes Digimon zu bekommen - ich weiß ja nicht. XAI Das XAI System habe ich bis heute nicht ganz verstanden. Es ist eine Art Würfel, der bestimmt wie of "Events" passieren und wie schwer Kämpfe sind. Man muss 1 Mal am Tag würfeln, dann gibt es ein XAI Score für Kämpfe und noch einen Würfelwurf vor den eigentlichen Kämpfen. Insgesamt komme ich auf 3 XAI Scores. keine Ahnung wie die sich aufaddieren. Dabei sind die Ergebnisse leider auch sehr zufällig. Fazit Es ist KEIN Tamagotchi-Ersatz, sondern ein System, dass grundsätzlich auf Tamagotchis basiert, aber durch sein eher komplexes Kampfsystem eigentlich eher Erwachsene anspricht. Die kleinen Teile lohnen sich bei dem Preis unter 20 € aber auf jeden Fall! Das Einfrier und Backupsystm sind gut, das Kampfsystem macht Spaß. Probiert es. Sei es auch nur der Nostalgie wegen.
