Do you need to fold the top or bottom of the poster when it goes into the wooden parts? Or do the ends just slide in the wooden holders?

No, you don't need to fold the top. The magnets go over the piece, that's how it's held together. So, your poster will go in between the two separate magnet pieces for the top and then the two magnet pieces for the bottom.

I have a piece of thin canvas with embroidery on it and would like to use this. Any advice?

I would think it’d be fine. The magnets are strong.

Will this support a piece of art that is matted?

No, it won't. I tried it with matting less than 1/4" wide, and it slides right off.

Would this work for a mounted puzzle?

Will this work for hanging small magnets I collect from travels.
