Nice-sounding, easy to build OD-1 pedal
This pedal is apparently a clone of the OD-1 revised circuit (with dual op-amp rather than the original quad op-amp). It has a unique character in that it uses asymmetrical clipping accomplished with a different number of diodes on each side of the waveform. I was also surprised to see the use of a 2N7000 with (I think) Gate tied to Source, but apparently this is done to use the device for its unique diode properties. Also noteworthy is the trim pot. I was a bit disappointed initially when I fired up the circuit at the amount of distortion available at max drive, until I rotated the trim counterclockwise and significantly increased the gain. For me, full "on" at the trim pot allows the drive control to have enough range from subtle overdrive to a fairly hard distortion - not quite as much as an MXR Distortion Plus or a Rat, but much more than from, say, a Klon clone. Overall this was a fun build, easy for those familiar with the "high-level" Landtone instructions. (Note - one thing I had to assume that is not documented - the power jack negative signal needs to be connected to ground - obvious, I know, but not documented and could be overlooked by a beginner.) As far as drilling the case, I used other Landtone boxes I had built (that were pre-drilled) as a "guide" for drilling in terms of hole placement and it worked out well. Just think it through and drill carefully.

Great 1st pedal to build
This was my first diy build and overall I am very happy with it. There are a few questionable things on the instructions, but otherwise I got it figured out with minimal issue and I'm a novice. DeadKoby on YouTube has a video of this exact build that I found somewhat helpful, but it cuts off at the end before he explained the power wiring. Luckily he does have another video with a Distortion-No1 pedal that explains/uses the same power setup.
