Works perfectly. Very easy set up, DVDs played without issue (I played both UK region 2 and USA region 1 discs.) Nice and compact too so it's handy for taking on holiday etc.

Absolutely amazing. Well worth the price it’s for. DVDs play really well on this and the picture quality is superb. It is really easy to setup, so doesn’t take too long to get it started. I would say that it is the perfect size not too slim but not too bulky either.

I was initiially confused by the square screen image on my widescreen TV. But once I went into "Setup" and used the "HD Output" options on screen, I was able to get my films to play in widescreen. Since then it has been: so far, so good. It plays my Led Zeppelin live double DVD just fine - which my last DVD player struggled to do without skipping. Having said that, it briefly got stuck when playing LCD Soundsystem's "Shut Up and Play The Hits" DVD, but I took the DVD out and tried it again - with no problems the second time. It was easy to connect the DVD player to the HDMI2 socket in my HD TV, and the picture quality as about as good as I can expect from DVDs. Pleased to be able to play my DVDs again, and at this price, it's a no-brainer.

Excellent dvd player. Nice and compact, with no drive motor noise at all. All functions work well. Good price and well packaged Have used several times and completely recommend as it is easy to set up and takes up little space.

This one will play all the DVD's from all countries so easy to use . I had 2 from US that wouldn't play on my other one so was very happy getting this one . I give this one 5 stars

I can't fault this DVD player, especially at the price. It plays discs from all regions. I have number of imported titles which have never been released in the UK in any format, and this little player handles them faultlessly. The image upscaling works well, and my old DVD's have never looked better. Not quite HD, but still very impressive. The only point to note is that 4x3 ratio images are stretched to fill a 16x9 wide-screen TV. This can be easily corrected by setting the video resolution to 480P in the player's settings menu. All in all, this player is highly recommended to anyone who has a legacy collection of DVD's.

The Scholars DVD player is relatively new. I needed to replace an old DVD player whose remote has failed totally and as we have a collection of box sets and films on DVD wanted to have a way to play them without breaking the bank. The fact that it could also play CD’s was a bonus as again we have a large collection of CD’s that I have never got round to digitising! It arrived in the usual oversized Amazon box but the actual product package was closer to the dimensions of the player. It was neatly packed with the player, remote and the audio visual leads all in the box. There are no written instructions so if your need them you have to scan the QR code in the Welcome leaflet. However, I have to confess that I did not read the manual until after I had set up the player so it is not much of a hardship! Setting up the player is very easy. Connect it to the mains and then either join it to your TV by HDMI or the AV/RCA source at the back, put batteries in the remote, open the DVD carrier, insert a disc, press close and then it plays! I used both HDMI and the AV/RCA connection on my TV to see which was better but could see no difference in playback so you can pick which suits you best. In my case that is AV as my HDMI sockets are filled by an Amazon Fire Stick and my Youview connection. The picture quality is excellent and there were no issues with playback. I then tried the CD playback and using the TV speakers the results were fine. I need to get a cable that will allow me to connect the player directly to the TV sound bar but that is a personal preference. The player is small and light so finding a place for it to sit is easy. The setup screens offer a range of options but the defaults work fine. I also tried the USB playback using the socket at the front of the player. I created a small collection of photos to display and it worked flawlessly producing a slide-show without any effort on my part. As for criticism well they are very minor. I was disappointed that the remote came without batteries but as like most people I have a supply of AAA batteries in the house so not a big issue. The other criticism would be that the titles on the front of the player above the buttons are not picked out in white/silver so can be hard to read. But as most of the time you control the player from the remote so it is not a big issue. Overall, given the price this is an excellent player.

Dvd player works fine for me but usb video doesn't accept mp4 or xvid which is also H264 like mp4 so think it might only work with a legacy codec like divx. Bought it to watch dvds so overall very happy especially with how slimline it is. If you want to watch dvds it's a steal for the price it is even on a 65 inch tv

This is just exactly why the new trading with Europe is such a good idea. This DVD/CD player and many other things is a very well craft and designed piece of electronic equipment. I have Never been more happy and satisfied with a purchase as I am with this. Wal-Mart and the Chinese stuff are GONE >.. UK Baby :-) A 3 Year warranty and it is a great warranty. It plays , operates as you would want. Quiet, quickly, dependable. Has every cord you need for hook-up, connections fit just like they are suppose to. The hand remote IS EASY TO UNDERSTAND AND I CAN ACTUALLY SEE EVERY SINGLE ONE WORK. 22 JUST ON TOP-HALF. If you need a DVD / CD player this is the one you want. I can not say enough good things about this and ZERO 'bad'.. watchin movies and listening to music here in Western ILLINOIS Chris G.

Si buscas un reproductor DVD multizona que se puede conectar al televisor mediante un cable HDMI (como buscaba yo), éste es el que quieres. Funciona bien, reproduce DVDs de las zonas 1 y 2 (los únicos que he probado), pero ... se sirve con enchufe inglés (que se puede cortar y poner uno español, como hice yo) y, aunque por las imágenes parece que tiene función reloj, no la tiene - es el contador de los minutos y segundos de la reproducción en curso.

Bonjour , bon lecteur DVD malgré le manque d'une notice ( aucune ) du made in china mais avec une prise secteur Anglaise qui ne correspond pas du tout avec nos prises murales " Française " et je ne comprends pas que le vendeur ne le précise pas sur le descriptif de l'article car cela fait " peur " au déballage mais on trouve un adaptateur facilement ( obligatoire ) pour le branchement secteur ( ex. sur AMAZON ) Quand au lecteur bon rapport qualité/prix

Absolutely great product. This product actually got delivered from USA and made in Britain. It runs all kinds of cd and dvd and easy to use. All other Chinese brands of dvds are useless and faulty except this one.

So far it's working pretty well and thus I have no complaints against same.
