Smucker’s Natural Creamy Peanut Butter, 16 Oz. Jar

This is a one of a kind PB and it’s getting so hard to find that now I’m gonna grind my own. Comes out the same ya know!

I have had to stay away from Peanut Butter for decades as most of them have a lot of added oils and additives that have given my stomach and body problems. I had seen years ago the fresh made PB in the gourmet stores, but it was always so expensive. Then i saw Smucker's' Natural PB at Amazon Fresh one day and i have been addicted to since. Even more impressive was the low price for the large jar too. Peanut oil does settle at the top, caution when opening. You could drain it out or mix it with the PB. This so is so good and with just simple ingredients, Peanuts & Salt, such a healthier alternative and so tasty. After the first time i had this, i even sent Smucker's a love letter saying thank you. Heck, i always have a jar around and it rarely gets put away

Only ingredients are peanuts and 1% or less salt. It is "natural", certified U kosher, has no added sugar, is non GMO. When possible, I prefer organic, which this is not, but this is my affordable choice. I have eaten this for years and never had a problem with it. My dog likes it too as an occasional treat. I like the glass jar better than plastic of other brands. The lid has always been secure (I've had a problem with other brands). Stirring- yes, you will have to stir for awhile when first opening. When not stirred fully on first use, the result will be too oily on top and too solid on bottom. So I spend awhile stirring thoroughly before first use and tell myself I am getting good exercise. If stored in the fridge as suggested, further stirring is rarely needed later. With this jar being larger than the size commonly most available in stores, note that a regular spoon won't easily reach the bottom. That meant peanut butter all over my hand and spoon handle, no big whoop when the price is right for the size.

Tastes good. Salt content is low enough that it's basically one (peanuts) ingredient. Healthy as possible. I don't like to stir runny peanut butter. Here's a good hack: pour out half of the oil, add 1/2 teaspoon salt, 2 teaspoons of sugar, and stir to get Jif/Skippy flavor without many & wierd ingredients.

I think people have started to forget what real food looks like without preservatives, stabilizers, or thickeners. Only two ingredients, no sugars at all — you just need to mix it well. The price is great for this kind of product. I bought it to try and didn’t regret it.

I’ve been buying many brands of peanut butter lately to compare & possibly select a new brand as I had become extremely disappointed in the quality decline of a brand I have been consuming for most of my life. Smucker’s was the 5th up in my trials and I wanted to taste test it immediately. I didn’t even settle the jar in my pantry with all the others on trial. I was positively appalled when I opened the jar soon after delivery to find a JAR OF OIL with something that looked sort-of like a peanut slurry. I could not even drain the oil off as the “peanut butter” was also going down the drain!! I then stuck a thin bladed knife to the bottom of the jar thinking the thick butter would be settled there, BUT NOT SO. It was just as slimy as the rest of the jar. Big, white, all cap letters on the front of the jar declared “CREAMY”, but this was anything but creamy - it had literally thousands of tiny bits of unground peanuts throughout that felt like beach sand in my mouth. POSITIVELY REPULSIVE !!! Sorry Smucker’s. Needless to say this brand will NOT be a contender to replace the brand I’ve used for years. I’m now thinking of grinding my own peanut butter as Amazon has a large bag of peanuts at a very reasonable price that are quite tasty. I have been using them for many months in a variety of recipes, some cooked, some as-is out of the bag as toppings or just a handful as a snack.
