Can't say enough good things about this hard drive. The tech support on this is also fantastic. I purchased this to share between a couple of laptops and a projector. It turns out the projector can't see this device. Initially I had some issues with my Windows laptops to see this device. I talked to their tech support and they told me the drive is formatted for mac usage rather than windows so I had to run a partition util on windows to remove and resize partitions and than format the drive. After that I was able to use this in both USB and USB-C. The USB somewhat slower but worked great and USB-C worked well.

I’ve had this hard drive for about two years. It really works great and has lots of storage. It’s not the fastest thing on the block, but if you’re looking to hold your digital content, this drive does the trick one nice feature is that it is very portable and have bus run power.

I bought this drive to use with Windows PCs not knowing it needed reformatting since it is set up from the factory to work with Apple OS. The first problem was my computers didn't recognize the drive in explorer. But it showed up in the control panel under devices. I researched this on Sandisk and Amazon Q&As for the product. It directed me to YouTube and I found a video that took me step-by-step through the process of using the Disk Management feature in the Computer management settings to set up the unallocated volume as a simple volume on the drive with NTFS (Windows only) or exFat (Windows and Apple) format. I used exFat as that is what my Sandisk Extreme drives are formatted in. It took about five minutes on my Windows 10 PC. It was very simple. Don't give up. I then backed up my entire user files, photos and videos from my main PC so I can move it back and forth from work, home, studio. Almost 3 GB, took several hours, but a fast transfer for that much data. It's physically a bigger unit than I had imagined. And, I am going to get a case to protect it and hold it and the cables. There is a small rubber cap that fits into the connector slot the USB-C cable plugs into, so presumable waterproof if you are in a wet environement. But, I'd resist taking it snorkeling with me. Just saying. ;)

This Hard Drive is great. The enclosure build quality is great and you get very good speeds for a HDD. If you need super high speeds, obviously get an SSD. However, I purchased this drive for backups, photos, videos, and other large archival data purposes, so ~160 MB/s is plenty. The drive is whisper quiet compared to most other drives and you cannot hear it unless you are within a couple inches. While the price might not be the best, the performance and quality are excellent. Some people have had problems detecting the drive, but this can be easily fixed by logging in to an Administrator account on in Windows and searching "Create and format partitions". You will be able to see the disk here. The drive is formatted for Mac by default, but can be used in Windows and Linux if you delete the partition and reformat the drive (I formatted with NTFS since I use Windows and Linux). Note that you will first need to delete the existing partition using an Administrator session of Command Prompt. If you are unsure how to do this, there are many tutorials on how to do this using the "diskpart" command. Once the partition is deleted you can then format normally from the partition manager. I also appreciate that the drive comes with both USB-C to USB-C and USB-C to USB-A cables.

Ordered on August 4, 2023- 5TB model. Reviewing 3/2/2025. Ran a Chkdsk on 3/2/2025 and the drive is healthy. This has been a great, reliable drive that has mostly remained connected to a PC that runs 24/7. I write to/from often, with varying file sizes, up to 40GB each. I am looking at additional storage options and will likely continue using these drives.

Not sure what had happened to my previous G-Drive, just stopped working , but it was old and probably full. I needed a new backup device for my MacBook. Plugged it in, laptop initialised it automatically and about half an hour later the back up was complete. I don't intend dropping it, but if I do, I like its protective rubber casing. Before ordering I was careful to select the model and size I needed, eg. USB, not SSD or Thunderbolt, and 1T. If it lasts as long as the other one, i will be happy.

I bought this ruggedized version of a USB drive especially to have for extra backups of important data, but it started reporting I/O errors already after some weeks. Over the years, I've probably bought about two dozen different external USB drives, but I've never seen one break down this quickly.
