Winsor & Newton Professional Watercolor Paper, Wired, 5" x 7", Cold Pressed

Absolutely fantastic paper. I use it for color pencil, ink and watercolor drawings and it allows indentation, erasing, layering etc. It is smooth but with enough surface texture for the pigments, and unlike some other cotton paper I use, it doesn't tend to tear. The paint is absorbed smoothly without grittiness.

This watercolor paper is well made. It absorbs water well keeping the area wet long enough for the user to add color. The texture of the cold press paper helps saturate the colors well. Its size is perfect for small paintings. A must have for sure. Good value for money.

I usually use Etchr or Saunders Waterford, but I decided to give this a try. The paper feels slightly different, but not in a bad way. Etchr and Saunders feels very velvety, almost like suede, and while this didn't have that texture, it performed very well. Water seems to dry SLIGHTLY quicker, and it takes a lot of glazes very well. I didn't have any issues with blooming, but I mostly work wet on dry. Granulating watercolors looked great on this. My only complaint is that the wire bound pad doesn't come in more sizes, and I prefer to work in this format. I don't do large wet washes or lift colors, so I can't help with that. Over all, great paper, as expected from W&N. Will purchase again.

I like this paper. It’s a watercolor pad not Block which works well on the go. The size is easy to carry and is durable. It can handle wet on wet and the texture is uniform. It’s very easy to use and I feel it’s a good value item.

What a lovely watercolor book. I’m actually painting!!! Tried a few options and this is the one I reach for.

This is very nice watercolor paper and I like it in the block. But the block I received is damaged. The whole block is loose from the backboard on two sides, therefore when you ad water to the paper it buckles which should not happen with a block. I think this is disappointing and not really acceptable, but I am keeping it and removing each sheet and taping down before painting.

It’s great watercolor paper. Good color. Good flow. Honestly I think I like it better than more popular brands for watercolor paper.

A great little w/c journal for the field! Allows some reworking, too.

This watercolour paper takes the water and the paint very well. A great investment.

This paper is lovely to paint on . I know it's a bit expensive but cheaper papers don't work the same as 100 per cent cotton paper.

I bought the rough textured block and the paper performs very well. It is not my favourite texture but it is growing on me - the dimples are large and quite spread out but the distribution is even and organic, and granulating pigments pop when used on this paper. The block is bound similarly to Fabriano Artistico blocks with all 4 sides gum bound but a couple inches of one corner unbound. The paper doesn't warp when wet but the unbound corner curls slightly which is quite unfortunate. The gum is colourless and translucent which might be preferable to some compared to the thick, black gum used in the old W&N watercolour blocks but I personally prefer the old style blocks. Aside from the above points, this performs just as well as other artist quality cotton watercolour papers, the sizing is well balanced and feels like painting on Fabriano Artistico.
