SUFFICE TO SAY: My kids NO LONGER ask for snacks and find their way to carrots and apples.
My kids did read the book. They always tend to look for healthier options but snacking was a problem and we would hear some whining comes to the snacks. Then, after reading the book it all stopped..Three years later.. we don't have ANY junk food anymore at home, nothing is being put on the list, nobody asks for anything at the store... bliss!I am so happy that I got the book. Kids eat full meals and they really can go for the most partwithout anything between meals but if need be they now reach for carrots, apples, celery sticksor rice cakes at worse and you will see a ball of fresh mozzarella, tomatoes or pumpernickel slicehere and there if the hunger is extreme. They have free access to food, they can also buy at the local grocery market all they want or put it on the list, we do not censor it but it is really joy to seehow much they grew up after reading this book and how this book went straight to theirsensitivities and woke up some wider sense of things. They needed to hear it from someone else and they did. I love the book and five stars are NOT ENOUGH!

You Must Read This Book!
Not just another cookbook, this is a parenting manual for the philosophy of why French kids eat anything. The structure around food is a must, as important as the nutrition and the pleasure of eating. The recipes at the end are simple and delicious. Give this approach one month and you will be astounded at what your kids, (and grandkids!) will eat! "Oh, another eating project!" says 4 year old Robert, as we roll out the dough and place chocolate bits in it, for dessert. It bakes during dinner, smells delightful, comes out delicious, and another family fav is born.

Author Karen Le Billon decides that she, her French husband and their 2 young girls should move to a small Breton village, near her in-laws and other relatives. She pictures a charming, relaxed life. Her reality is that she finds out that she is doing her child-rearing all wrong, particularly in the eating department. In this engaging and well-researched book, the author describes her transformation from a junk-food Mom of 2 picky eaters to a family that enjoys siting at the table trying new “real” foods. She shares many stories from her year in France, as she learns to comply with mother-in-law’s dictums. Many of the food ideas will make sense to non-French eaters; some may seem a bit much.Readers will certainly enjoy learning about the French approach to food and life, and the many anecdotes in the book will make you smile. There are delightful drawings throughout the book of the family. Turns out that Madame Le Billon could only handle France for one year- and she and her family moved back to Canada. Recipes are included in this entertaining and helpful book.

If you have a child please read this.
If you have a baby or child read this book. It's so honest and helpful. It was recomend to me by someone who hadn't read this with her first child but had with her second. Now her first child is more fussy and her second eats everything, but her first has improved so much since reading this book.I've now read it for my little girl and will definitely be taking on the advice.
