Great thermometer!
I believe I purchased this thermometer about a year and a half ago. It has served us well so far. I do not do a tremendous amount of roasting, so I've probably used it about 10 times so far. It has worked wonderfully. I hand wash it (without immersing it) after each use before the goo sets up on it. Definitely recommend!

Best meat thermometer I've used
Absolutely love this thermometer! It has a very easy to read face with big numbers that are clearly set off from the background so my aging eyes can actually read it accurately. It is safe to leave in the roast while it is in the oven, and the large size makes it a snap to read through the oven door.Has a silicon covering on the face that makes it easy to grip when pulling it out of the roast even if it gets greasy. Reads in C and F, and has a listing of safe temps listed at the base of the dial in case you forget what the target temp should be.Also has a very long warranty - 12 years - but the catch is you have to mail it back and pay for return shipping. Chances are, it would be cheaper to just buy a new one. But, it seems well-built, so I expect that barring an accident such as dropping it in the garbage disposer, it should last a while. It comes blister packed, so it's a bit of a chore getting it out of the package.

SHATTERED IN MY OVEN - GLASS IN MY FOOD
I purchased this after reading the positive reviews in Jan. of 2012. I have had it for 4 months and have used it probably 10 times. Up until today it worked as advertised.Last Sunday I was preparing a large pork roast and I heard a loud pop out of the oven about 20 minutes before the roast was to be complete. I opened the door and noticed that the meat thermometer had SHATTERED in my roast in the oven. Glass was everywhere. On my roast, in the pan, in the bottom of my oven. I was so disappointed in the product. First of it ruined my $15 dinner. Second of all a meat thermometer should be designed and tested to operate in the conditions that occur in the oven. Not operating properly is one thing; shattering glass in the oven is yet another.DO NOT BUY this product.I was even more disappointed when I was unable to return the product so I decided to write this review to keep others from losing their money on an UNSAFE product.

good for the oven
After 22 years my meat thermometer bit the dust. I can cook withot it but meat. Is different these days, especally pork. If you cook it too long it is tough. This has worked very nicely. The numbers are easy to read and I like the flat bottom so when you take it out it stays.

Gr8 Stainless Steel Meat Thermometer
Gr8 Stainless Steel Meat Thermometer...The head should be bigger, if it was it would be a 5 Star in all the "Feature Ratings"...I can read it fine right now, if, you open the oven door to read it, but then your losing all the heat...If the head was bigger you could read it though the glass...Younger eyes may not have that problem, older eyes do have that problem...I love the Flat Bottom, it allows the Thermometer to sit flat and not roll away on you....

Temperatures listed on face are WAY off
Thermometer appears to be pretty accurate.-2 stars - I'm not sure which neanderthal decided on the temps written on the thermometer face, but they are way off. Really rugged and easy to read but slow to react
Its a great piece accurate and easy to read. But its way slow.
