We've had this many times and loved it. The noodles aren't mush. I do use about 2 TBSP more water than called for. I zip the pkg back up and shake a couple of times while waiting. Add maybe 5 mins to wait time as well, if you prefer a softer noodle.Mountain House is our favorite, by far, prepared foods seller. Never any TVP or fillers. They don't use wads of salt and/or citric acid as cheap "flavor". No preservatives or any other crud.As well as being a prepper in general, we live in the mountains. Being snowed in, often w/o power, is fairly normal and this is part of our preparation for it. We purchased a few flavors of these for our summer camping trip. This brand came highly recommended by a local Scout Master who says his troop uses them all the time. Beef Stroganoff and Chicken and Rice were our favorites. The instructions are so easy to follow that our own kids were able to make dinner without complaining. Fed a family of 6 with some big teenage boys.

It's always a good idea to have extra food on hand. I've been trying different brands of dehydrated or freeze dried foods for long term food storage, and I think Mountain House has it pretty much right.The food will sit on the shelf safely for 30 years and I'm surprised at just how good it tastes. It's only down side to be aware of is that there is a fairly high sodium/salt content, so read the label carefully.MH has several different foods to choose from. I tried a lot of them by buying the single/small packs (more expensive) to see what I liked. I found that I liked the vast majority of them so I've started buying a #10 can every month or two. I'm slowly building up a supply of food that will last 30 years if necessary (I don't think it will be necessary). It tastes good enough that I will use a can every once in a while.Try them out, and then just be sure to keep a can opener and a source of boiling water on hand and you could feed a small army without warning if you needed to.
